DAF feels rushed?

I know that they blew a large amount of the Budget on getting Connery back into the Picture, but during repeated Viewings of DAF I cannot help but feel that it was rushed somewhat. Does anyone else feel the same way?

I quite like DIAMONDS ARE FOREVER but do feel the film rushes to an unsatisfying conclusion after the Bambi & Thumper fight. The oil rig conceit is a good enough idea for a location but isn't utilised particularly well & everyone seems a bit bored. The combination of Connery's levity & Guy Hamilton's light-touch direction may not have helped. Plus I believe there was a special effects balls-up with all the explosions.

I agree with the special effects not being up to par on DAF. The helicopter
explosions looked "Pasted" over. Still a fun Film with a terrific scrip though.

Connery's deal included large amounts of money if the film went over schedule, so they didn't. Perhaps that contributed to the "rushed" feeling.

Yes, it should have been planned and executed as a revenge film. As it is, it's a rushed mess of a film and Connery was not worth being brought back in such a woeful entry in the series.

The discovery of the oil rig seems hopelessly contrived. For whatever reason, Blofeld insisted on adding to the property model after buying the oil rig, despite the model only existing because Whyte wanted to show off his property purchases. Virtually nobody would notice an omission to the model if they looked (IF they looked), and even fewer would care enough to view it as a telling discrepancy instead of just the addition not being complete yet. It was a pointless waste of time and money that only existed to give a sudden reason for them to find a lead when all hope was lost.

I think the only part of that movie that was done well was the fight scene in the elavator. The rest is just a total mess.

Yes,some good points raised here, but fellas this film was made forty odd years ago we are trying to break down a film with our 2013 technical savvy ,we didnt even have double glazing
then, my dad had a 68 plate mk 2 cortina 1600E and that was the dogs in those days now youd laugh at it
so cut DAF some slack it was an excellent film 40 years ago i know i was there 8-)
By the way, did I tell you, I was "Mad"?

I agree always shaken, DAF was made when Films disappeared after their
cinema run and only got on TV after 10 or 15 years. I don't remember it
myself as I was just a babe in arms at the time. ;) So I do cut it some slack. :))

Well.... DAF wasn't the best Bond movie IMHO :D I remember Connery saying in an interview on the special features on the DAF DVD that he thought it was the best movie script wise.

Wint and Kidd were brilliant villains though with some funny lines.

Kidd-"Mrs Whistler DID say she wanted some pictures of the canals for the children."

Wint-"How KIND of you Mr Kidd! the children will be so THRILLED!"

Such a twisted sense of humour which makes them more memorable.

All of the previous Bond films were superior. Its age isnt the issue, its just a badly made film. Even if it had top notch effects, it still would be a badly made film.
