FRWL Game

I finished this game today, the PSP version that is. I totally thought this was a great little game! What's people's thoughts on it?

Personally the style of gameplay suited me much better. I am useless at first-person shooters, but this was a third-person shooter, which I'm much better at.

I enjoyed the film references so much that I've just re-watched FRWL straight after!

Does anyone know what the reasoning was for making this game though? Was it for some sort of anniversary? Only I thought bond games were usually based on the 'at the time' new bond film... Nonetheless, a very fun game. They should make more based on the other films!

This game came out in November 2005 and it was due to EA desperately wanting another James Bond video game to come out and do good sales wise since Goldeneye: Rogue Agent had failed to find popularity among gamers. From Russia With Love was picked because it is Sean Connery's favorite of the Bond films he starred in and likely EA really wanted him involved with a game. Also this game was announced during the spring of 2005, months before Daniel Craig had been cast as the sixth actor to play the part of 007 and before the public knew what the story for the next film was going to be.

Your Welcome. Always glad to help. Despite its flaws I still enjoyed this game a lot especially after how disappointing I found Goldeneye: Rogue Agent to be. Also getting to drive the Aston Martin DB5( in the home console versions) was a treat even if the driving engine EA used for the game was poorly done.

I think it was a good game. a fight with Grant on the Orient Express would've been brilliant.
Have you ever heard of the Emancipation Proclamation?"

I agree, its to bad that instead of on the train we fight Grant on the station platform and then again at the SPECTRE base. One fight with him on the Orient Express would have been enough for me. Also I really enjoyed the bonus levels though, the sniper based one needed some better AI programing.

I breezed through it in an afternoon, and returned it.

I didn't think it was horrible, but it was far too short, and Connery's clearly older voice was distracting. Also, wasn't there some kind of cyborg Grant at the train station? A shame. The Everything or Nothing punch-ups were awesome, an extended version of something like that with Grant would have been great.

If i remember correctly the name SPECTRE wasn't used in the game as Mcclory owned the right to the name. OCTOPUS was used instead.

@hehadlotsofguts That is correct, MGM was still negotiating with him about the rights to SPECTRE so it became OCTOPUS since in the film verison of From Russia With Love and Thunderball Blofled wears a ring with an Octopus on it and so does Fiona Volpe.

@Ward Grant uses a robotic exosuit shaped like a Crab during the last level of the game set in a missile base. During the train station fight he uses an AK 47 assault rifle and I believe some hand grenades.
