Have any of the British Royals in history been involved in espionage as field agents, not just supervisors?

I'm sure there have but I can't seem to find anything out there.

    Well, I'd imagine not, due to the dangers though I don't know for sure. Spying is done on their and the government of the day's behalf, after all. Though I have found this related piece on the BBC:

    The Earl of Suffolk was a bit of a character in ww2, thats the only member of the heirarchy that springs to mind.

    Surely it'd be difficult to be undercover if you were such a public figure? I mean obviously you weren't referring to reigning monarchs but still...

    Interesting question though, it would be good to know various ways in which members of the royal family have been involved in the country's security.

    One royal did mix with a few "secret service" hence that car crash in paris. :v
