What are your scariest moments in a Bond film? I'm currently watching DR.NO and i thought both spider scenes in the film were scary but then again i'm phobic anyway. Another one is in OHMSS when Bunt captures Bond, mainly because it was unexpected.

What are yours?
Have you ever heard of the Emancipation Proclamation?"

Pretty much anything Dario (Benicio del Toro) does in Licence to Kill, specifically the look on his face as he is about to put Bond through the shredder.

I don't know about scary so much. Perhaps more eerie:-

The spider scene in DR. NO

The shadowy presence of Oddjob & Bond subsequently finding Jill covered in gold paint in GOLDFINGER

Aki's death in YOU ONLY LIVE TWICE

The crematorium scene in DIAMONDS ARE FOREVER

Baron Samedi rising from the grave at the end of LIVE & LET DIE

Jaws revealing himself to Manuela in the Rio alleyway in MOONRAKER

Thinking about it, these have more resonance for me as I was a younger age when first viewing them. I'm less easily shocked now. But they also made me realise the Bonds embraced the bizarre (not to be confused with silly) in the early films. Like Jacques Bouvier disguised as a the widow at the start of THUNDERBALL, there's an AVENGERS-esque vibe at times. But I don't know how this approach might fit in with our more realistic times. I'd like to think there was still room for the such odd-sinsister moments.

Brosnan, girly-man quiff and pretty boy face, hanging upside down in that Russian bog.

How long had he been there and why, and what was he watching the guy do, smirking?

    Goldfinger, Bond, laser.
The scent smoke and sweat of a casino are nauseating at three in the morning. Then the soul-erosion produced by high gambling - a compost of greed and fear and nervous tension - becomes unbearable and the senses awake and revolt from it.

Not so much scary but genuinely suspenseful IMO:

In OHMSS when Bond is locked in the cable-car wheelhouse, and climbs onto the cable and starts to pull himself along it, just as a cable-car starts moving in his direction.... That always makes me squirm :#

Good one! The scene was played straight, and there was a genuine sense that Bond was in real danger thanks largely to del Toro's creepiness and Dalton skillful performance.

The way Dario laughs before being pulled into the grinder adds to the creepiness. Great acting by all in that scene

I remember the first time watching AVTAK. The scene were Bond swims
in to the pipe just as Zorin turns on the Pumps/propeller, pulling him
towards the spinning blades. I found scary because I couldn't see how
Bond was going to get out of it. :D

That part was very suspenseful TP. The part after that where Zorin chucks that KGB agent in the pump was pretty scary as it showed Zorin's true psychotic nature. still wince when i think about it :#

Yes! That's a huge part of it.

I also remember as a kid when I saw DAF in the cinema, the scenea where Bond is trapped in the coffin at Slumber Inc, I was really scared as I couldn't see a way out for Bond either.

The only thing scary about AVTAK was that Roger Moore was still playing Bond! :))

As a kid I also found the Croc Island scene in LALD very scary, all I could think about
was what a "Bask" ( had to look that up ) :)) of Crocodiles or "Congregation" of Alligators
Could do to a human being.

That's actually what I miss about Bond movies, maybe its because I'm older..but when I was a kid they were all kinda weird, creepy & scary in a good way because they were so different from whatever else was going on. I remember YOLT & LALD, MWTTGG, had that weird vibe even DAF before I realized it was a camp comedy. Heck when I was a kid I thought Adam West's Batman was some serious scary stuff.

The only scene that really gives me sweaty palms is when Roger Moore is climbing the rock face up to St Cyril's in For Your Eyes Only. It's brilliantly filmed and wonderfully played by Moore.

I think the fact that there was little music in that scene added to the suspense
