Dalton sitting in a cello case careening down a snowy slope seems less silly than if it were Moore, even though the situation itself is blatantly ridiculous. It doesn't feel as daft because it's Dalton, a percieved 'serious' actor doing it. But it's still pretty daft!

That's a good example of a scene that would have got Roger Moore applause in the theatre because of his wink to the audience. When I saw Living Daylights and this scene came up the audience started groaning precisely because it was played straight. There needs to be a balance to the force of Bond.

Every Bond movie needs one blatantly ridiculous moment or it's not truly a 'Bond' film. :007)
Dalton & Connery rule. Brozz was cool.

Really? I may have missed it, but I didn't notice such a scene in either CR or QOS, but they both seem to be true Bond films to me.

Gentlemen, I offer, for your general delight:

    Casino Royale
Bond dying of poison when the medikit electrical lead isn't plugged in, then being revived by Vesper, coming back to life, saying"You alright?" Before heading back to the casino... :))

    Quantum of Solace
Granted this one's a bit trickier, but how about being machine gunned out if the sky, falling to earth without a parachute, grabbing hold of your girl mid-air at the very last second, crashing to earth, and miraculously surviving? :))
"How was your lamb?" "Skewered. One sympathises."

Bride Of Barbel, a nurse experienced in intensive care work, found that scene the funniest in the movie for the medical errors!

John Glens directing was indeed stale and quite uninspired. His directing lived up during the action sequences but it was obvious that he couldn't handle the dialogue scenes. That was unfortunaly a large problem in Daltons films which had more drama then action.
Glen should have been replaced along with Moore in 1985.

Imagine Spielberg for The Living Daylights, that would have been a real feast!
