They have the sky setters in 32, 34 an 36 for £75

    Quite a bargain

They only have the alpine ones now - those aren't the same are they?

Odd, they call them alpine but they look like the sky ones. They also mention skyfall in the description. Look like the right colour from the pic anyway

Took the plunge with these (pun intended)

Still not convinced they are the correct ones though, but look close enough...

What's the fit like with the Setters, or even the Bulldog model? I've heard that they have a tendency to slide down despite the sidetabs. I have a 33" waist and I find size 34 usually is roomy, but sometimes 32 is too tight.

I'm a 34 and have to have the adjusters pulled all the way in. I wouldn't want to dive in them!... I think you may have more joy sizing down.

The setters and bulldogs come in a 33 so maybe you can split the difference rather than going all the way to a 32...

from my experience of having two pairs, one in size 30 and the other in 32, they definitely run big. probably about 2 sizes big. if you're a 33 I'd definitely go with a 32 or even a 31. according to the orlebar brown size chart, a 33 actually measures out to a 34 1/2 waist. so it'd probably be a bit roomy. I'm a 32 and had to go with the 30, and even sizing 2 sizes down, I still have to pull the side tabs as tight as they can go because there's still some room.

just check out the rest of the measurement charts on the orlebar brown site, they have the exact measurements for each size and each style of trunk and are fairly accurate. that should give you a pretty good idea of what size you need.

Does anyone have a link to a reasonably priced alternative of these trunks?

It's a little late in the season now for what I saw in store previously. In Canada, both Sears and Joe Fresh had the same style but not in pale blue. The Sears version, which is sold out here, was $25, a nice light material, but long in the leg - reaching down almost to the knee. The Joe Fresh version was the same cut as OB but ran huge in their sizes, had a rougher material, and no lining. Last I saw they were on sale for $9, down from $19.

Neither had pale blue, the only blue was halfway between a French blue and NCS blue. The way I see it is if these stores carried OB knockoffs then we should see them in quite a few places next spring.
