I'm worried about the schools in the US these days..

I'm worried about the modern education system. I was washing my car today and a young lady walked up and asked if I could trade quarters, she said the car wash wouldn't take hers..I had a pocketful and agreed,,she handed me a Canadian 25 cent piece. I said, "Well it's not American, it's Canadian.", she looked at it and asked me how I knew it was Canadian? She was still mystified when I pointed out that it had HM Queen Elizabeth II on it...

    :)) I'd say there are a few in the UK who wouldn't know Who the lady on the coins is either.

    A Canadian friend of mine corrected me today, he reminded me that they are also Americans..."It was not a US coin"...picky picky picky...

    I work with money and you'd be amazed at how many people get quarters mixed up with nickels. When I point out what they've given me, they're shocked. Maybe it's a lack of paying attention. I know I've never mixed the two up

    I think what is just as bad is the number of times I've handed someone a Susan B. Anthony or Sacagawea dollar coin or a $.50 coin and people handing it back to me saying it's not U.S. money. :#

    Also, how can you get quarters and nickels mixed up? There are ridges on a quarter...

    Believe it or not, some of the older beverage machines took Canadian quarters. I never tried it, but I know it was done. We still had these machines when I was five or six years old. I remember one day I put in a dollar for a $0.50 can of soda and out popped not only a US quarter, but also a Canadian quarter. Being an aspiring coin collector at the time, wow, was I thrilled! I didn't care at all that I was short-changed....I didn't have a 1974-dated Canadian quarter and that was what mattered! :))
    By the way, are you gonna eat that?

    I live in the UK and some people think it was Queen Victoria and one person thought it actually was Helen Mirren I couldn't stop laughing
