Moments when a Bond actor totally embodies the role.

What are the moments or scenes that you think a Bond actor totally becomes James Bond. A few i can think of are as follows.
1.the most obvious, Connery's intro in Dr. No
2. Pierce Brosnan in the Bilbao bank scene from TWINE, that whole scene he owns the role, hes charming, deadly, and ruthless with a bit of panache.
3. Daniel Craig's escape from the Bolivian hotel in QOS. Another moment where i stop seeing the actor and just see Bond, from the moment he kicks the leg back into the elevator to when he exits the hotel, Craig shines as Bond in this particular scene.

I totally agree about the Bilbao bank scene in the PTS of TWINE. That's when Brosnan became Bond to me.
2. Lazenby fight on the beach in OHMSS.
3. Sorry, Rog..I enjoyed you as the Saint but you were always Rog playing
Bond.
4. Dalton fight scene on Gibraltar.
5. Craig catching the gun thrown at him on top of the crane then lobbing it
back. Other heroes in other films have done similar shtick (Ford shooting the
swordsman in RAIDERS), but it was obvious a very Bond moment.
Same here about old Rog. Sorry Moore fans!
in the hotel room speaking about not being able to recognise a face at 40mph
when someone is trying to put a bullet in your back.
He's Bond for me there.
Sorry, old chap You should watch some Roger Bond movies.
LALD: The punch with that Bond sends Baron Samedi back into the snake-filled coffin
TMWTGG: Bond "sqeezing" andrea out for informations
FYEO: The beach walk and saying goodbye after Lisl has been killed
I am sure that there are many more
Dalton - the weak and weepy Bond!
A great scene, and along with the Dr.Kauffman scene one of Pierce's finest moments.
I've watched them all many times. The moments you pointed out are some of Moore's better scenes, but he still doesn't quite convince me that he's Bond. Sorry, old chap, but that's the bottom line for me. In the case of all of the other Bond actors, with the possible exception of Lazenby due to his short tenure, there came a moment where I saw James Bond, not an actor trying to be Bond. That moment never came with Moore.
Craig said in an interview they put that scene in for exactly that purpose.
Sorry, old chap...I really like Roger, and I enjoy some of his films, and as I mentioned in another post, he got closer to Bond when they gave him more serious dialogue and scenes..but there just weren't enough of them to win me over.
I also read that interview. I believe he said that it seemed so absurd to be concerned with straightening out the shirt in the midst of such a frantic situation and that is why they did it. After they came up with the idea Craig forced them to shoot the sequence over again just to get it in, which apparently was a pain. And pretty much sums up the character keeping cool in the midst of chaos.
I guess most of the classic Bond scenes are the moments that you see Bond the character and not so much the actor who is playing him. And those moments are plenty of course, too many to list here.
1. Connery 2. Craig 3. Brosnan 4. Dalton 5. Lazenby 6. Moore
I find him unconvincing in his first two outing but 77-85 he WAS Bond.
Just a couple quotes from the Octopussy DVD press release:
"...Better than most 007 films....Moore and James Bond have grown gracefully indivisible..."
New York Times - Vincent Canby (06/10/1983)
"...Thrilling stuntwork....Roger Moore is eminently effective in the Bond role....Spectacular aerial stuntwork marking both the pre-credits teaser and an extremely dangerous-looking climax..."
Variety - Lor. (06/08/1983)
My personal favorite list of when Roger "embodies the role"
TSWLM:
"So does England!"
"What a helpful chap!" as he swats away his tie and the henchman falls to his death.
"Q, Have I ever let you down?" as he hops into the coolest 007 car ever.
"About certain things, yes" After the questioning about his late-wife.
Explaining to Anya that yes he probably did kill her lover during the ski chase.
Followed by smiling at her as they are lowered together on the helicopter winch. *awkward*
Meeting Stromberg under the guise of a Marine Biologist.
Wearing Naval uniform. Coordinating revolt inside Liparus.
Moonraker:
Centrifuge scene starting from "The trouble is there's never a 70 year old around when you need one" to staggering out of the trainer gasping for breath.
The classic hunting scene "You missed Mr. Bond." "Did I?"
Spying on the Orchid lab/Returning later with M wearing Gasmasks.
Octopussy:
The entire PTS from "Sounds like a load of bull" to "Fill 'er up please"
The auction scene "Now there is a lady", bidding on the egg, to having Kamal tailed. Brilliant reworking of the Fleming story.
Playing blackgammon with Kamal. Doesn't even have to look at the die when he rolls the double sixes, because he KNOWS they were loaded.
Riding towards Checkpoint Charlie Bond gives his "tip of the tentacle" report to M.
Asking Magda and then Gobdina if they would care for a nightcap.
AVTAK:
Summarizing the future plot of Goldeneye and then wondering to himself why M said he wasn't properly dressed.
Going undercover as James St. John Smyth and his bantering with Tibbet. Checking the hotel room for bugs and then continuing their discussion out on the balcony. "A successful cover becomes second nature"
Cooking dinner for Stacy. No other 007 would dare attempt this unless they were WELL established in the role. And then sleeping in the chair with the shotgun instead of hopping into bed with her. What gentleman.
and many more... -{

"I doubt if you qualify on that score."

" I don't listen to hip hop!"
That is quintessential Bond, that is not something you will see in the Mission Impossibles or the Bourne movies.
1. Connery 2. Craig 3. Brosnan 4. Dalton 5. Lazenby 6. Moore
GL - When he and Tracey are in the barn talking about getting married and Bond leaving the service. Bond comes alive as a person and less an indestructible superhero.
RM - I'm afraid RM never convinced me either that he was Bond. The closest he came was when he kicked Loque's car over the cliff in FYEO.
TD - The fairground scene in TLD after Saunders is killed and Bond bursts the balloon. You just know that when he vaulted the fence if Necros had been on the other side Bond would have shot him without a second thought. I remember the first time I saw TLD at the cinema thinking at that scene that after years of the RM comedies Bond was back.
PB - Killing Kaufman. Beneath the good looks, charm and expensive clothes Bond is a ruthless professional.
DC - In CR reversing the German's range rover into the fence to create a diversion then casually tossing the car keys behind him. A small moment but one that personifies how cool Bond is.

Also, DC when Severine asks him in SF "Can you kill him ?".......DC.........."Yes!"

I think plenty would agree with that...he was let down by poor scripts...he showed some true 'Bond moments' during his tenure...
That being said, another Bond embodiment I forgot to mention comes from GE in the Monte Carlo casino. Pierce nails the introduction. Absolutely nails it. "The name's Bond... James Bond."
