James Bond Aboard the Orient Express

I have a few questions regarding Bond's journey on the Orient Express in "FRWL".
First of all, how did Red Grant knew that Bond, Tatiana Romanova and Kerim Bey would leave Istanbul via the Orient Express? He was already aboard the train, when they boarded.
How did Grant know that Bond would steal the Lektor from the Soviet consulate on the 13th of that month, when the latter told Tania that he would steal the Lektor on the 14th?
Why did it take the train a few hours to travel from Istanbul to Belgrade (in Yugoslavia), when it usually takes nearly 24 hours to travel between the two cities?

so ,for arguments sake if Bond wasn't on the shall we say the 8-15 flight to London ,the agent at Attaturk airport
would relay that info ect ect so that would leave fewer options to cover ,that would be my guess,
as for the other 2 questions ,artistic licence?
Yes, he was. So how did Grant end up on the Orient Express before Bond?
it could well be that there were no planes to London that day after all it was in the 60s
so the only means of escape out of Turkey could well have been as simple as that,
besides a fight on a BOAC plane wouldn't have been as good as a punch up on the OE old man )
By adding the embassy sequence before returning to the novel's events, the screenwriters have created this plot hole.
