Have you been impressed by something in the Bond documentaries ?

I was wondering if anyone had learnt any interesting facts or been impressed with how something was Filmed
in the series.
I was amazed with the Skyfall Helicopters light, which wasn't even on the helicopter but on a winch which
was made to match up with the helicopter digitally later. :D Great stuff.
So any thoughts ?

They don't always provide the answers to people's questions. I have been trying to find out how Dario's death was achieved but they never mentioned anything
Have you ever heard of the Emancipation Proclamation?"

Too many to list. Growing up in the 90's when stunts started to transition to digital effects, I never realized how all the stunts were done for real in the earlier Bond films. When watching people free fall, chase, and grapple with each other in mid air and told it was real, my reaction was "WAT?!"

Similarly for the Octopussy plane and train scenes, and TLD cargo plane scene was all real stunt work with only stage models for closeups being provided for effects.

Richard Grayson on the Cable Car with no restraints and hanging one handed off the side :o

Gert Frobe not speaking a lick of English. I knew he was partially if not fully dubbed, but had no idea that he was mouth acting a language he did not speak. There are very few moments where the mouth doesn't match up with the words.

Thunderball underwater scenes all being real. Rewatching on Blu-Ray does not make it seem like it is anywhere close to 1965.

Thunderball jet pack. My fiance laughed at me when I told her it was a real jet pack.

I'll stop now, but there are so many more!

The work of the behind the scenes teams are amazing and it would be great to have a talk with some of them past and present. I would dearly love to have an in depth discussion with Barbera Bachs lingera supervisor from TSWLM and maybe seeing some stills of her trying them on, purely from an artistic pov of course.

Efforts to reedit FRWL so it made more sense plotwise, the scenes with Klebb, Blofeld and Kronsteen.

The 'Everything or Nothing' documentary teaches you basically all there is to know about James Bond. Very informative and taught me almost everything I know about Bond.

I love the extra's. It is amazing how creative people were during the old days. using salt to make it look like a rocket is entering the hemisphere for example. (I think YOLT?) The crocodile stunt of LALD, the ski chase in OHMSS and Willy Bogners stunts and camera work.

I think that is the best thing of DVD/Blu ray versus video; not only is the quality of the sound and screen better but the extra's make watching it soo much more interesting.

Now a little off topic: what about regular Bond documentaries. There have been so many, but which one is the best to watch? I liked for example ' the cars of James Bond' by 5th gear very much, which can be found on youtube, but maybe some other advices? what is the best documentary on Bond?

Salt for the rocket was at least in Moonraker.

Everything or Nothing is mandatory watch for Bond fans. What a great release for the 50th anniversary.

I was always shocked to find out about the injury to RM's double on OP train scene, and also the injury to Johnny Jordan and his unpleasant demise from the film industry.

But the LTK fire claw is always a mind-blowing fact.

Ah, it was Moonraker? Thanks for correcting! I will watch Everything or nothing. I only saw some bits and pieces of it so far.

Derek Meddings' work on GoldenEye was incredible! Especially Severynaya!

And the Golden Gate Bridge in AVTAK was well done :)
