I honestly think they should keep a "classic line" I quite like the new dial in a more tool watch capacity. It looks good with a nato as in the golf editions and with the rope twine silicon strap but I prefer the old style teak / tuxedo stripe dial. A classic line in my opinion would also feature an smp with wave dial and a classic po in black.
Agree on all points, and the po shouldn't have a stoopid display back.
I quite like the display case back, omega have done a great job with the look of the 8500 movement so it's nice to see it beating away, but again I do think they should laser etch the hippocampus on the sapphire caseback.

Talking purely from a thickness perspective.
That's down to the movement not the caseback, the cases on the 8500 are slightly thicker too.
Tbh, no pic can capture the greatness of that watch! You must wear it!
In my opinion, these Seikos and in particular Grand Seikos seriously are asking what kind of person you are?
If you are attracted by the brand, they are not for you.
If you really don't care about brand image and so on and only look at how a watch is being done and finished, you may consider them.
With Higher End Seiko Collectors - it's a bit like with Lexus owners: You must really try hard to find an owner, who is not happy with his product!

It looks great, but how long before that plastic crystal is scratched? I hope it comes with a stick-on protector, like phone displays...
I think that the Seiko is glass/crystal ? but here is a 45 yr old plexiglass, see any scratches ? -{
Beautiful watch.
Something for the ladies,
I think the 28mm may well be mrscoops next watch, her constellation has been getting a daily beating for 6 years now and I'm liking the look of these new ladies at's
A decision not taken lightly welcome to the club! Sorry not in the US so cannot recommend but my advice try a few on for size, grey market is fine if you want a price drop vs RRP and do your research if you are going for used. I have got some great deals on eBay but if you choose that route by the seller not just the watch (i.e check out the feedback and their history).
But enjoy the experience you will not regret buying an Omega and don't worry buyers remorse soon passes! )
Good luck!
Cheers :007)
P.s Dont forget to post a picture!
My name is Bond, Basildon Bond - I have letters after my name!
What's the consenus here on Kinetics?
I was looking at a few online and there were quite a few handsome a Seiko. Plus, it is the fusing of an automatic and a quartz so you do get the best of both worlds, although I do hate the seconds movement of Quartzs.
So? Whatdya think?
I'm finally ready to purchase an Omega, and I was hoping you all could suggest some trusted websites I could use.
Thanks!!
I've heard good reports for Crown and Calibre, if you are going down the online route make sure you factor in any import tax if shipping is from overseas.
Congrats and as Bond 44 says the buyers remorse is swift about half an hour for me. What model are you looking at?

Why would anyone want to have a hippopotamus etched on a watch ?? )
Seriously, as nice as the 8500 is, it‘s simply too thick and it shows on all watches that use it.

*And a bloody nice domed crystal, may I say - and it has Seiko's own AR coating which does not have the blue hue or shows fingerprints.
