depends a bit on the bracelet/clasp and the cost to replace.
As an example, I am currently having a 5513 Rolex with a Rivet bracelet serviced - and I made clear no touching up watch and bracelet.
On a more recent watch with cheap replacement parts, I'd be cool with it.
But keep in mind that modern Rolex and Omega clasps are bloody expensive!
And in general - all touching up just makes things worse and get surfaces clear for more scratches

A friend of mine was telling me this weekend how he is planning on selling his Rolex daytona bi metal, and buying a u boat flight deck.
On my part I advised him to keep the Rolex, and buy a second hand U-boat, their value seems to drop significantly, and I think the Rolex will always hold its value and probably increase. What do you think?
Christ - Daytonas wear pretty small so he is going to have one hell of a size increase
He is indeed, I think he's having some sort of crisis now he's hit 50
In my case it is an Omega SMP. The case isn't really scratched but the bracelet is. I guess I would prefer both the case as well as the bracelet to remain the way they are as I don't mind a bit of life wear on my watch. However, getting it back with a nice scratch-free bracelet would be cool as well.....

SMP bracelets are difficult to get properly refinished because of the brushed and polished links.
If properly done, that takes up a lot of time. Additionally it's pretty difficult to replicate the satin finish - particularly on the slightly domed clasp. Usually scratches on the clasp are so deep that you need to take away lots of material to make them invisible.

Completely agree here, I've seen a lot of smps that just look really shiny and now look just like a brushed stainless bracelet with slightly polished 2 and 4 link outers. The clasp on these is just a mark magnet, more so than the po and SM300 clasp for some reason, just leave it alone as all you do is clear the way for new marks as Higgins says.
I undertook a bit of a refurb on an smp and found that a thorough cleaning of the bracelet, followed by buffing (not polishing) gave really good results in improving the overall look of the watch ( I lightly oiled the bracelet from inside with anchor watch oil using an oiling tool too) I've yet to substantial marks or damage to an smp case, even the bezels seem to last well with just the inserts marking a lot. Mine had a trashed crystal when I got it so I replaced that and just fitted an aftermarket bezel insert which will do for me, though if I came to sell it I'd fit a new oem complete bezel.
Let me point out, that no pic can capture the beauty of tis watch!
The hands are like sword blades, the indexes razor-sharp and sparkling.
The watch itself (titanium case and deployant buckle) is light like a feather!
The buttery way how the clasp closes is incredible!
And this, gentlemen (lock-on crown) has been wanted by collectors for decades and worth alone the ticket!
That is a gorgeous timepiece. I too am quite fond of Seikos. With Christmas ahead and my 40th birthday on December 28th I've got the SKX007 and SARX045 on the wishlist. On the fence with the SARG011, that may be a "just because" purchase I make on my own.
