I totally appreciate the skill, but the result is not for me.
I don't know if these watches hold their value...
Unfortunately they do not seeing as Rolex will not service them and if you were to send it back to them Rolex will probably make you buy a new case and bracelet. Now there are some independent watchmakers who can service the watch if they have a Rolex account. Though the craftsmanship is exquisite i would never do that to my watch and if i had a watch engraved like that it would a Reverso!
My Sea-Urchin is out of action for now, has stopped keeping accurate time and stops dead on my wrist, even if I'm moving it vigorously.
This is my backup, nothing expensive or flashy; a 1998 Swatch, Newman-like panda Daytona, or as they call it Irony.*
Quartz.
My father stopped wearing after the original battery stopped (a miracle it didn't leak) and set it on a drawer. He gifted it to me last December, where we went to our local Swatch shop, swapped the battery and got a new strap since the last one wouldn't lock at the buckle for some reason. Lume's pretty bad, though. Even if I wear it all day, it won't charge up enough to shine brightly. But then again, I'm lucky it isn't a Bart Simpson. It turned me on to the idea of wearing a watch and it sparked my interested on fine watchmaking, so I'll definitely hold on to it. Though it's water-resistant, the face sometimes fogs up.
(Also, what is with ajb-ers and MacBook Pros?)
*Considering getting a led watch from the early 70s as a second one but I don't think I'd ever wear such a thing on a regular basis. (These would be either the 1982 BR one if prices were right or the LALD Pulsar)
If you search for Pulsar P2 on eBay, it does come up with a modern interpretation of the P2 for about £50 in either gold or silver colour. I've not bought one but it looks pretty good in my opinion.
I totally appreciate the skill, but the result is not for me.
Fully engraved case back only, perhaps? Something just for you to appreciate, and not for the world to gawk at.
I sometimes think that fully engraved clasp would save me some heart ache, because then I wouldn't see (all) the scratches desk work inflicts on bracelets...

Okay...I know there is A LOT of dislike for this watch on here, you just need to have a read through its dedicated thread to see that (I appear quite a bit in that thread funnily enough) so i'm just going to start with an apology, but a couple of weeks ago I bought the Omega Commander's Watch - a very unplanned and very surprising purchase even to myself. Why oh why did I do a stupid thing like that you ask? Well randomly searching around online one day I found one in unworn condition for sale in Australia (so no crazy import/customs fees) for more than $2000 less than its original retail price - so I didn't think it was something I could just pass up. Also it matches an outfit I wear quite a bit :007) Not that i'd ever wear it with it! Pictured with a random NATO featuring some more vivid colours than Omega's standard strap.
So yeah, an item that connects three things I love - Bond, Omega and the Navy - was definitely something that was always in the corner of my mind's WTB list. It's probably going to be my go-to diver from now on.
Anyway say what you want about it, I really love it and think that box it comes in is an absolute thing of beauty -{ Oh and when it was delivered I noticed it also shares the same LE number as my SP 300 so that blew my mind!

I know I've been very vocal in my distaste for the Commander but I actually liked the NATO that came with the Commander to the point I ordered it and it will be delivered today! No apologies needed as you got an awesome price and more importantly you actually like the watch Wich is the most important thing What I find most surprising is that both your Seamasters share the same number! I mean what are the odds of that happening?? Maybe you should buy a ticket for the lottery!

I actually like the Commander too and if I could get one around the £2500 mark I would buy one too.

I bought one a while back and they are crap, brass case that is plated and any scratches and wear the plating can be seen. You can pick up a genuine P2 for £200 or non working one for a lot less seen sometimes for under £100 and they can be repaired by certain companies for £100 or less.

Congrats JTM, I always thought the Commander was one of those things that looks far more impressive in the flesh than in photos. The detail through the caseback rotor etc is very nice,as is the box. It's just that 007 counter balance I personally have an aesthetic issue with, but congrats wear it in good health.
I always say something is only worth what you are prepared to pay. If you got it at that price and feel it’s value for money good on you. There are just times when the price makes it a no brainer!!
I have to say that with the whole number matches thing that with those odds I would go buy a lottery ticket you are onto a winner!!
Enjoy!
Cheers :007)
PS have to confess I like the NATO and I am considering purchasing for my blue PO Ti
My name is Bond, Basildon Bond - I have letters after my name!
Looks OK ish like most used versions it has been over polished on the case so it shines ( some brushing should be expected to put that right). I suspect unless you like the vintage look a new bezel, dial and hands would folllow so you can get expect to add £400 to the cost and maybe a service at £350 then it gets starts to pricey.
Might be better to wait for a better condition one for a little extra on the price. They do come up from time to time for £1500
Cheers :007)

Omega's teaser video for Baselworld 2018 shows a red laser beam with a Bondian soundtrack with the subtitle 'They're back!' Any speculations? Maybe a blue wave dial SMP upgraded with the new 8900 movement?
In the Swatch group's sale report they noted: Omega will also celebrate the 70th anniversary of the Seamaster and the 25th anniversary of the Seamaster Diver 300m in 2018, and will market special editions of the collections for these occasions.
Your prediction is not that far off, it seems.

I had one. After sending it to Rolex for a service I got it back fully polished again.

Well, don't put it into a tool watch then, or at least not into a divers watch.
