Just seeing what Rolex has introduced in Basel and I am slightly underwhelmed:
A GMT Master Red/blue (only morons call it a Pepsi...) in Steel (Now called Oystersteel) with a Jubilee bracelet and the new caliber 3285
A Datejust in 36 mm (they shouldn't have changed the size in the first place
A Datejust 31 mm (they shouldn't have changed the size in the first place)
A Sea Dweller Deepsea with slightly modified case, with the new movement 3235 and a wider bracelet
and a multicoloured Daytona in Rose.

Do you think we'll see a 300m on Bond's wrist again?
I’m torn on this watch. I like that they brought the waves back, but I don’t like the way they look and the date at 6:00 is awful. I don’t think I’d want Bond to wear this.

I told you they’d do a Pepsi in steel. So yet again, you were wrong and I was right.

Took the words out of my mouth. Date window at 6 killed it for me also.
Also the HE valve looks huge.
Apart from those I think they would / could have looked great

The modern ceramic GMT on jubilee looks a bit off for me. Would look much better on Oyster but guess they need to differentiate from the white gold version.
Deepsea upgrades is cool - many people thought the bracelet was too thin / narrow, now broader.
I am pretty sure that the Blue/Red GMT will be available soon on an Oyster bracelet and I hope that they've made both the Jubilee and the Oyster bracelet a bit wider then
It's about time
Personally, I don't like the Jubilee bracelet at all and toolwatches on Jubilee bracelets are a joke imo.

Don't recall this particular discussion with you on this topic.
But certainly I wouldn't have objected that they will sometimes do.
That aside, I am ) about all predictions from Rolexpassionreport that went bust mainly.
People on TRF where speculating how close his ties to the mothership are. Not so much

I don't mind it, except for the Ti/gold one, I still think if they are going to have crystal casebacks they should laser etch the hippocampus on them.
I don't like the new Seamaster. The wave pattern on the ceramic dial looked terrible in the videos from Baselworld I saw. The proportions of the Helium release valve look wrong. The watch looks chunkier.

I'd take a 90's SMP 300 over this one any day.
You know, I wouldn't put it past Omega to have the original wave pattern tucked away for a limited edition release with the film.
Although the 1948 Limited Edition Seamasters look very sharp and would make a great wink-nod to Connerys Gruen watch.

The 1948 is better, but to me the hands of the reissue are too short. Isn't the 1948 reissue 40mm? 38mm would be more of a dress watch while still modern.

For me Omega really struck out this year.
The 1948's are 38mm and i like the small seconds version better. I have seen a few complaints about the center seconds models hands being too short.
Very underwhelmed by the new Seamaster.
The waves look more like fingerprints and the date window stinks.
Movement, I presume is from the parts bin.
Omega is the GM of the watch industry but unlike GM, I love them too damned much.
Just give the people what they want! That being, a reissue of 2220.80, ceramic with a newer movement.
But hey, it exists so...that's cool, I guess.
a reasonable rate of return

The 1948 with the small seconds register is nice, I will have to see more of it to make a decision. The other version with the center seconds is a miss.

I wish they just left the sapphire glass clear on the small seconds model. All that writing gets in the way of being able to properly view the movement.

I will agree with you, there. Omega and restraint rarely go together.
Another commenter said the wave dial on the new SMP looks more like a fingerprint. Perfect description in my opinion. A laser etched fingerprint.
Looking at the two Pepsi GMT releases, I think I like the Tudor over the Rolex.

However, the rainbow color on the dial markers are a bit ott, I agree.

That’s probably at least part of the reason why Tudor released a [very handsome] Black Bay GMT as well.
And I am dreaming about lumed numbers in the bezel just like they've done it with the Pelagos
Edit: Just reading the Tudor homepage:
Bezel insert is aluminium just like the old 5-digit GMTs, and unfortunately no lume
