I will agree with you, there. Omega and restraint rarely go together.

Another commenter said the wave dial on the new SMP looks more like a fingerprint. Perfect description in my opinion. A laser etched fingerprint.

Looking at the two Pepsi GMT releases, I think I like the Tudor over the Rolex.

Both of the Pepsi GMT models are ok but there are things i hate about both of them. I really dislike the jubilee bracelet in general and i hope they allow you to get the standard oyster bracelet. The Tudor isn't bad but i don't like the rivets on the sides of the bracelet and the snowflake hands are ugly. At least you can throw both of them in a nato strap :D

The Tudor GMT is about the only Tudor where I'm okay with the snowflake hands. The geometric contrast between the indices and the hands combined with the red and blue bezel works for me.

Regarding the Rolex, I too dislike the jubilee bracelet. It looks bling-y and just wrong on such a tool watch. I wonder if a standard oyster bracelet will even fit. Wouldn't put it past Rolex to have changed the case shape just enough to prevent swapping. In any case I don't see the company allowing buyers to purchase an extra oyster strap.

Despite the Omega 1948 with the sub second dial and perhaps the Tudor GMT, I was feeling quite down on this year's selection overall. And then this caught my eye...

Rolex have indeed changed the GMT case / lugs. So no swapping to Oyster

I am dealing with my Mom's estate and found this little Seiko. It is strange. I can't decide if I like it or not but it runs really well.

I like the dial. I am going to ask my guy if he can find a band that will work. I might like it better then.

    Thank you!

It's the 42mm version (the 2201.50.00) with the later 2500d movement in it - I tried a bigger version but found it didn't work well for me (skinny wrists!).

I've wanted one of these for ages and after a very difficult few months I've been able to treat myself. I'm very, very happy with it! :)

Don’t you just love that kiddie in a sweatshop feeling! I see the start of a Bond watch collection coming.
Glad you finally pulled the trigger all that advice from the watch lovers on that other site will have paid off I am sure. :D

Enjoy in good health I am sure you will (would not be surprised if you start looking for the LM LE version it’s a nice crossover between that P.O. and the 8500 version).

Don’t forget to pick up the OEM rubber then you have both CR and QOS nailed

    Cheers :007)

It was indeed a sweetshop feeling! It was due to arrive on the Friday but got held up so didn't come till the Monday - by which time I was away for three days :o

Decided to check it out as much as I could before going ahead - hence the queries asked of the watch experts - it seems absolutely fine so I'm one happy bunny. Will definitely check out the OEM rubber strap - any recommendations on where to get one?

Nothing wrong in doing your research if it stops you getting burnt.

The black OEM rubber is not cheap (£170+) and you will pay seperately for the buckle so factor that in. I actually bought my first second hand off eBay then renewed the rubber strap later. It’s good quality and will last for ages. Remember there are two sizes as well and you need the 20mm for your watch. I would see if you can cut a deal with you local Omega store.

There are plenty of look alike alternatives but the quality is not great so don’t bother with them.

    Good luck and enjoy

Congrats and wear in good health. I had a similar experience when I bought my po Ti, my neighbour signed for it while I was away for a couple of days, then buggered off skiing before I came home!!! I was tempted to break in to his house to get my watch! you've got a classic timeless watch there which will give you years of service and put a smile on your face everytime you look at it..... Which will be a lot. :)
It was either that.....or the priesthood

OK with recent talk of PO’s I am off on a Biz trip for a few weeks. For watches I usually take two one blue and one black to cover all occasions and outfits. So this time the Blue P.O. Ti 8500 is coming with me the crunch is which black one (left to right black P.O. 2500, Black P.O. 2500 LM LE or black P.O. Ti 8500)

    4_DC453_E3-2_F08-49_DC-8177-_C9226_BCE0147.jpg

Going to warmer climes and so casual attire will be Sunspel and Sta Prest etc.

    Which would you choose?

    Cheers :007)

The matte black ceramic would be my choice.

Hmm that would be two Ti's on the same trip. I was thinking middle one (PO LM LE) will go with Polos/ Sta Prest (QOS) and my Grey (PTS SF style) suits plus I can swap to OEM rubber for two watches in one for weekend wear (CR). :D Nice problem to have :))
