During fall, winter and early spring I wear a suit 3 out of 4 working days, so that would favour the older model in your eyes, am I right?
The difference in price is negligible. €5100,- for the 2015 version, €5000,- for the newer model on leather, €5100 on a bracelet. In all cases I will be able to talk about 20% off of the retail price at my local AD. So both will end up a hair over €4000,- The only thing is the extra bracelt/straps. Omega sells those at crazy prices.
Yes and no....I would say you're better served going with the 2017 model as it has the newer movement, doesn't draw too much attention and it's more flexible. I agree with you on the dial and the seconds hand but if you can get a black seconds hand you can replace the orange one
Beautiful watch martini. Been on the hunt for one for a while - it just seems like a fantastic piece for all occasions.
Thanks! It really is a very versatile watch. I actually bought a Speedmaster before this, which I wear just as much and more at weekends, but this one for when I am feeling more Quantum...
@Peppermill, I'd personally go for the 2015 brown strap one if you haven't made the decision already.
It's the kind of watch you can dress up and down but in my personal opinion, I'd have to swap out the strap to something a bit more...neutral since it doesn't have the chameleon-like nature of the bracelet where you can wear it with a t-shirt/jeans or a business suit the same day, without having to swap watches.
Only reason I didn't tell you to go for the bracelet is because I don't really like the design of it, TBH.
But, again, that's a matter of personal taste.
Wonder how many AJB-ers use MacBooks
Well, I stopped wearing a watch because the Seiko crapped out and my Swatch needs a new battery.
Not to worry, though because in the coming months, I may actually get a nice watch.
I'll do without for a bit.
Seiko is fixable but I'm afraid I have the "while you're in there" mentality most people have with their cars/mechanic that I'll have with my local watchmaker. I also don't think I can really justify the money I'd spend to have all new parts on it.
whilst in hospital ,I watched a film called The silent enemy ,the main character Buster Crabb was I think I’d bet money on) was wearing a Rolex submariner any confirmation please
This may beat the record for the longest time for a reply, but I saw this and was interested enough to pull a couple of stills from the film via the watchesinmovies website, which I can't now upload from the computer I'm using at work.
IMDB did come out with this however: Crabb is shown wearing a Rolex Submariner throughout the movie. The Rolex Submariner model was not released until 1953. Crabb was in fact a Rolex owner but not that model at that time.
EDIT: Got the screengrabs to work now. Can anyone confirm which Rolex Laurence Harvey is wearing?

It's a 1958 movie.
That makes sense.
What didn't was the IMDB note you featured that made me think that this movie had a character wear a watch that hadn't been released to the public yet.

I think the point is that the film is set during wartime, before the Submariner was released. They seemed determined to show off the watch though - on the longer shot of Laurence Harvey he's really making sure we get a good look at it!
I’ve just managed to find a Seiko M354 5010 Moonraker Watch in near mint condition B-)
For a watch that is 39 years old, it barely has a mark on it. Absolutely amazing condition!
And at such a bargain price, it was impossible to pass up. Don’t think I’m planning to wear it, I think it will be for my display only.
Yes, I know, those wise enough will point out that it is the wrong colour watch but the condition was just too good to pass up.
Now, if only I could find a NOS replacement black face somewhere.....
Oooooooh!!!!!! Look what I found on eBay at the same time....
Now, I just need to find a watchmaker willing and able to open her up (take out the explosive) and swap the face over...
I’ll post the result here once it’s done!
UNCLE27, I'm pretty jealous of that watch for soon to be obvious reasons!
So. Not a looker yet. But I just bought this watch and may be completely unsalvageable (that's fine, it was cheap and I like little projects like this). The Moonraker Seiko watch. I have a couple other dead/broken corpses of the watch and I might finally have enough to Frankenstein together a decent looking (and working) version. My question is for anyone who knows anything about rust/corrosion on a stainless steel case. This *looks* basically beyond repair but I don't know and I'm willing to give it a shot. I'm not crazy about using acids that will erode the metal. But I will if needed 'cause it can't get much worse. Would something like Evapo-Rust work? Anyone have experience with this?
Ouch! That needs some work!
I think that mixing together parts and watches is probably the only way to get a half decent complete watch now after so many years.
There are a couple of NOS glass available on eBay at the moment.
I think that given the 5019 model number and dial colour of that watch it probably started as ‘gold’ plated which has now mostly worn away. Therefore it is not discoloured per se. A jeweller/watchmaker may be able to just polish it back to stainless steel. Maybe??
I popped over to WatchUSeek and asked the experts over there for their opinion. They're actually fairly optimistic that it's not nearly as bad as it looks. The worst case scenario here is I send it in for a re-plating of the stainless steel on the case. And the company that does that would charge less than $100 all told. I'm really happy I jumped blindly on it! Once it's overhauled I'll have every Roger Moore digital watch.

Don't quote me on this but...a 6204?
(Though, if I remember correctly, it didn't have a depth rating on the dial)
Lovely! Which model is that? I always forget.
Happy to be reunited
Looks like it is a 6538

This model is super rare.
Only 200 pieces were produced.

Fantastic collection Ross! But I agree, they all deserve some good wrist time — how can the SP 300 still have its stickers on?!
Cheers :007)
