Welshie: As far as I remember 1988/1989 - the only Submariner (no-Date) was the 5512/13 which was recognizable by the domed plexi crystal which would have been easily identified and differentiated to the flat saphire crystal Submariner Date of that time.
14060 (Submariner with flat sapphire) was introduced 1990.

Have not played with the bracelet yet as I put it straight onto the posh silky smooth Omega Nato.
Im really liking the dial, the age / patina marker thing is more subtle in the real world then online pics.
I thought the bezel would be nice and smooth like the Rolex ceramics but appears the same as my 2500 series PO (fussy I know!)
It sits quite high (I forgot how high these Omegas are) and the NATO adds a little to this.
If I had smaller wrists (I'm 7.25") I think the lug length would bother me as they would overhang, however I think I get away with it with a bit of room to spare!!
Will watch SPECTRE with it and then assess if the honeymoon period is over!!!
Loving the look so far after 24 hours, will monitor and access the accuracy as I have heard its superb!!!!

Thanks - I have the box and papers too which is nice ( showing my age, it's a birth year watch!) - the box contains a little card saying to use it to keep cigarettes in once you've taken the watch out! Sign of the times back then!

Congrats Welshie. I was exactly the same with mine. I bought it on an impulse and it really grew on me over the first few weeks. Now I only wear it at weekends so it still feels a little special.
A guy I work with wears one (which I am 99% is fake) and never stops going on about how great they are. I am sure I read somewhere that they are not all that good and only have a name through clever marketing to footballers. I could really do with some ammo to throw back at him, unless they are good in which case i'll just keep silent.

I still wouldn't buy one, but in all fairness to Hublot, they pushed the oversized Luxury Sports watches segment together with the AP Offshore recently.
Some say, that Hublot blatantly copied the Offshore concept, which is half true and half not.
Fact is, that the majority of their movement bear no horological value - one exception is their Unico Chronograph movement which according to my information is inhouse.
Now about them copying AP:
Hublot started with luxurious Sports Watches on rubber straps long before anyone else did, at that time the brand was named MDM and the model was called Hublot. That was over 30 years ago - so one could say, that AP and the PP Aquanaut where copying Hublot in that matter.
At first sight it seems that Hublot copied the bezel screws from the Royal Oak Offshore, but the screws have a different shape and screws in the bezels are not a typical AP thing, it has been invented much longer before the Royal Oak - if I remember correctly - it was the Cartier Santos who had this first.
There are rumors that Hublot produces the ceramic bits for AP and infact, they use heavily exotic materials like Carbon Fiber, Ceramic, Titanium and black coatings.
If you check further, you'll see that an Hublot case is very different in construction compared to the AP ROO.
But still, I find Hublot's pricing far too high and I personally don't like their even carbon cases - I much prefer how AP does it with their Forged Carbon cases.
If you want to annoy your friend - best way may be with the fact, that Hublot translates to Porthole and there is only a small way to "Pothole"
I must disclose that a friend of mine is a manager of an Hublot boutique - we've had a lot of discussions and I still tell him that his watches are crap
