According to some it is. Though I've never read how this was decided or seen any evidence to support it. I think this again was proffered by Mr deaton the self proclaimed plagiarist..... I mean expert.
Changing the subject slightly (though not away from watches), would it be okay if those of use whose tastes and pockets don't run to Rolex or Omega money showed off other watches they have that simply look nice?
Trouble is, there really is no Bond connection and this thread isn't in the off-topic section.
I always took it as a way to participate in the conversation, even though they may not have an Omega/Rolex.
Like I have done in the past. At least mine was a Seiko, so it did have a small Bond connection with Roger.
Personally, I don't mind, so long as this thread exists.
I knew that there were clocks with Quartz movements, what I am saying is that it would've been odd to have them downsized so much so that it would fit in a wristwatch...in 1962.

Except that Hamilton did it in the 1950's unusual and even rare in 62 yes, fishy? Not so much.

Of course you can! And just ignore Asp9mm's idiotic comments.

Stoopid Higgybum. Thick as a whale omelette and ugly to boot.
Nice pic.
Seriously though, did you mail the adder?
No, it was a Jameson's Mamba I mailed. It's my job to protect the adder, and its venom strength may not have been sufficient for such a numbskull like Higgy-poo.
I don't mind it though I prefer the more classic look with just silver indices and plain bezel. I don't know the significance of orange? I know that when diving the colour will change ie blue turns green. I've got one if these that I will be diving with in a few weeks while on holiday, so I may find out.
I had a Planet Ocean with the beautiful orange bezel for a time. Stunning colour and a fab watch. But in the end I sold it as I just couldn't 'wear' the colour. It didn't really go with anything.
I think they put orange on the bezel because underwater, if you're glancing at the bezel to see the time remaining before the oxygen runs out, orange is a colour that you can clearly see and sticks to your mind.
Anyway, I never had any experience in those conditions but that's what I remember from Hodinkee.
(BTW, anyone frequent Hodinkee?)

I'm not a diver, but I'm pretty sure the notion that orange enhances underwater visibility has been debunked. I personally think it makes the PO look cheap.

Interesting I didn't that.

This begs the question: AsBB? Asp177? Asp22? or AsPEASHOOTER?
And just as some of you where wondering how his idiotic comments look like, he transpires one
the 9mm reflect the length of his winkie btw.
And he was even too stupid to shoot himself in the foot, snake boy was bitten by one - juvenile of course ) ) )

To make a failed joke once may be regarded as a misfortune. To make two seems stoopid.
Took this one myself, around 2012/13. One of the best adder pics I ever took. Shame he didn't survive the trip to Germany in a jiffy bag.

So to put us back on track :
What does everyone think to omegas use of orange in a lot of their watches?

Underwater, colors fade pretty fast and orange stays a bit stronger than red - but not significantly.
The author (himself diver) says, that for best visibility it needs a maximum amount of contrast and bunches of lume on hands, dial plots and bezel.

In that case, I am good to go!
