I'm a fan of the lovely Ms. Lumley. While Emma Peel was definitive, Purdey was my second favorite female Avenger.

I rememder watching this documentary on Fleming, and loved the bit where she
Was looking through an old book of Fleming's with some ideas jotted down and
Along one page was written " Quantum of Solace "
"I've been informed that there ARE a couple of QAnon supporters who are fairly regular posters in AJB."
Another 007 connection for the delectable Joanna Lumley! She's had Bond documentary work, played a tiny role in OHMSS, and recently played Tracy in a BBC radio version of the same story.
Here in Britain we have a certain kind of celebrity called a "national treasure" (no, not the Nicolas Cage films) and she definitely fits there, along with other Bond alumni Judi Dench, Shirley Bassey and Roger Moore. Sean Connery doesn't quite make that grade since he is not universally loved by the great British public.
Bit off Topic here, but I live around the Aldershot/Farnborough Area and Joanna Lumley is DISPISED around here. )
Please explain .....
Because she Campaigns for the Nepalese, which both Farnborough and Aldershot have a large Population of. The general Feeling around here is that there 'Too many' of them in this Area. Anyway, I don't want to Derail this Thread.

Wow. That doesn't sound racist at all. 8-)
To provide a bit more background: Joanna Lumley is part of the Gurkha Justice Campaign. The organization was in favor of allowing Nepalese Gurkhas who had fought for the United Kingdom to gain the same right as their British and Commonwealth counterparts to settle in the UK. Lumley's father served with the Gurkhas, so it's an issue close to her heart.
It seems only fair to me that if you are a member of a nation's military and are willing to fight for that nation, you should be able to live in that nation.

I think she deserved an Honour for her work on behalf of the Gurkhas...but I guess you rarely get government awards when you work against the government, do you?

Too late, you already have.
It's possible that you may simply have phrased your comments unfortunately, causing them to come across in a racist manner. Please rephrase what you've said, to clarify.

I've got many Nepalese Mates, where in my Post did I say anything about Racism or Race? I despise Racism. All I said was that's the Feeling around where I live. I'm part of the small % that is Friends with the Nepalese and Lives with them fine.

Thanks for that; post 9 above though could be, and has been, interpreted that way which is why I asked for clarification.
I agree that it did come off as Racist, I should of said what was in my Second Post during the my First on this Thread.
Thanks for clariying, because I, too, misunderstood your first post and I found it to be disturbing. I'm glad to know that my first impression was wrong. -{

I second the above. I want to be clear that I wasn't calling you a racist, just pointing out that what you posted read as racist. Thanks again for stepping up and clarifying, and I hope there's no hard feelings.

First of all; I didn't read AlphaOmegaSin's post as racist, but 'neutral'. I also think Lumley's campaign is an honourable one. French Foreign Legionaires are automaticly given French citizenships after a few years of service. Britain should do the same for the Gurkhas.
We like Joannna Lumley in Norway, especially since her 'In the land of the northern lights' programe.
Norwegians love to hear foreigners say nice things about our country and Lumley made it look and sound like Norway is some kind of fairytale land
Some members seem so oversensitive about anything that might be interpreted racist, it feels like I'm on a Swedish website! AlphaOmegSin simply wrote that some people in the Aldershot/Farnborough Area feel thera are too many Nepalese there. He said nothing about his own views on the matter.
