Maybe. Though i was never a school bully, I think we all have some regrets about things we have said or done which, a few years and a bit more wisdom down the line, we realise to be unkind.

I think kids can be very cruel without even realising it.

One kid who was at my primary school was always the kid who had to score the goal, run faster than anyone else and would bully and steal. He's now a social recluse, has no self esteem and hardly even leaves his parents house. He has no friends and has never had a girlfriend or a job.

Do I feel sorry for him? Yeah I do, but what he thinks or feels about his younger years I'm not really sure.

I did happen to run across one of the my old Bullies a few Months back. Never recognized me, either he was lying or he had been struck with a bad Case of Amnesia.

I don't think the worst cases don't regeret anything. They remain bullies all their lives. Most regret it more or less.
A friend of mine was bullied when he was at school. Now he's a civil engineer in the capital and the head bully works as a supermarket cashier in the town they grew up. That thought sometimes makes my friend smile .... :)

I think most bullies are as miserable as their victims. If you feel comfortable in your own skin, you don't feel the need to pick on someone else.
With that being said many people like to take the piss which can often be mistaken for bullying by teachers in particular.

Their was a group of bad kids in my high school in the early 70s, they spent most of their time bullying weaker kids, stealing, and generally being pains in the ass.

Most are dead now from various and sundry murders, drunk driving accidents, overdoses and other bad ends. The ones that are alive are disabled from drunk driving accidents, drugs and other wounds...

Do they regret their youth? I saw one where I work, he had to be there because he applied for welfare, and he had to register with Job Service. Anyway, he was sitting there and he said, "You know, you've always had good jobs. We used to pick on you because you always had a book in your hand...maybe we should copied you."

Whether or not they feel remorse is totally irrelevant to me. What matters is what they do. If a former bully feels remorse and takes constructive action—calling his victims to apologize, volunteering with anti-bullying organizations, speaking at schools about the issue, etc.—than that's great. If he just feels bad about it and cries in his beer, then so what?

I don't think bullies change, what worked for them as kids. Many take with them
    to their workplaces. :#

I like to believe Karma gets them back.

I was picked on at school for my height...I was insecure and bullies feed on that!

I so didn't want my son going through the same thing, and luckily he is a very happy go lucky kid, and has a varied group of friends at school. He did have problems with one boy...I ended up inviting him over to tea...and luckily it sorted it. If anyone now does pick on him, I tell him to reply with something dismissive, rather than defensive...and it seems to end there.

I too believe in Karma in a sort of way, as I'm sure the state some of these guys get themselves in to
a heartattack or stroke can't be far away. Might be crule to think like that, but they should get what
    they deserve.
