I was told by someone 'in the know' that the early scripts had the villain as M's adopted son who had gone bad committing atrocities to further his career in the Service. So that theory makes more than sense.

From the moment I first saw "Think on your sins" I felt it was an anagram. I placed the letters in a circle the way my Dad used to when doing crossword puzzles but couldn't come up with anything decent. Although the author comes up with a great theory, I personally don't buy it despite the seeming coincidences.

Thanks for the link - I thought for a min that it was confirmed secrets etc but the theory sounds a bit desperate - especially the anagram lol

I didn't think Silva was struggling to kill "M" either just being rather dramatic since the bullet was pointing at both of them

Definitely worth taking this with a pinch of salt and a shot of tequila with a scorpion on your hand! :))

Fun speculation! Interesting article to think on. Can't put too much weight on this as anagrams can be found in anything. That being said it's fun to think about and discuss. Wonder who's idea it was if it was true and who decided to cut it.

I don't buy the anagram- as said above, anagrams can be found in anything.
Skyfall is laden with symbolism though. Silva is a symbolic son to M, as is 007. The orphan dialogue is there for that reason- Bond's real parents are long dead, and M has become his parent-substitute (from the previous film- "Your mother?" "She likes to think so").
This is implicit in Fleming- although, of course, Sir Miles Messervy is Bond's symbolic father; Amis goes into some detail on this in his Dossier.
