Harrison Ford

Thoughts? Personally, he's one of my all-time favourite actors - I own over 20 films with him in. Favourites include: Indiana Jones Series, Star Wars Series, Frantic (a must-see - not well known but brilliant), Air Force One, The Fugitive, and the two Jack Ryan films. What's everyone else's favourites?

I actually found Witness a little boring - didn't think much to it, but I know that it's a rather popular one. The amish story didn't appeal to me much

A damned good actor, no nonsense attitude. However Air Force One and Indy IV were dreadful. I hope the writing of the new Star Wars is better.
This is Thunderbird 2, how can I be of assistance?

Would like to see Ford in a Bond Film, but I doubt it will happen though.

Just out of curiosity - why did you find Air Force One dreadful?

If I were to pick a 'dreadful' Ford film then it would be Cowboys And Aliens (though Ford's performance itself was good; I just didn't like the film).

Big fan of Harrison Ford. One movie I haven't seen mentioned here that you should check out is Regarding Henry.

Premused Innocent -- not as strong as the novel, but a good film nonetheless.

Interesting how age has finally caught up to Harrison Ford. Playing Branch Rickey in 42, he's heavier than before, and his voice is an octave lower. Like Sean in DAF. :D

I love Harrison Ford, he's always good, even if some of his more recent films aren't as good as his older body of work. :)

I think Ford was THE American leading man of the '80s and '90s, nicely balancing action/adventure roles with serious dramas and the occasional comedy. Since the new century, though, I think he's been phoning-in a lot of performances--like in Cowboys and Aliens, where he basically growls through the entire film. I thought his performance as Branch Rickey in 42 was the first time in years he's genuinely ACTED. I'd like to see him in more character parts like this one.

He slightly got lucky with Star Wars and Indiana Jones. I mean, some actors have their big, defining breakthrough role and oozes into other roles, but if not for that they wouldn't be stars. Bruce Willis for instance. Die Hard is superb. But if it weren't for that, as good as he was in Pulp Fiction, would be a star? Not really imo. For the key to his star appeal, you have to show someone Die Hard. You can't say that about Bogart, his star appeal is in Casablanca, To Have And To Have Not, Key Largo, The Big Sleep and so on, it's transferable. Ditto Monroe with her films and many other stars.

But I don't really buy Ford as a star in his other movies so much, you have to have Han Solo or Indy in mind to 'explain' his appeal. Of course, fair do's, most have seen those films so it does work.
