Which people to you think were totally mid-cast for their roles? Excluding Actors playing Bond

For me:
Mathieu Amalric as Dominic Greene
Aldolfo Celi as Largo
Charles Gray as Blofeld
Kurd Jurgens as Stromberg
Denise Richards as Dr. Christmas Jones
Tanya Roberts as Stacy Sutton

Largo and Stromberg were not terribly cast I suppose but the others were ****-ups

Am I the only one here who didn't mind Gray as Blofeld? 8-)

I agree with your list mostly, but a topic of its own could be "Who would you cast as Dominic Greene instead?"

The only two I think of as badly cast are,

Denise Richards, a beautiful woman but I can't take her seriously.

Tanya Roberts, she was too young for randy Roger.

I tend to agree with Thunderpussy. I don't think Mathieu Amalric was miscast as Dominic Greene so much as I believe he was misused for certain things like screaming during the axe fight. Keeping that strange, emotionless, "pitiful" demeanor about him while fighting actually would have been pretty creepy, to be honest, and I think more effective.

I've always thought Celi was fine as Largo, though the dream casting would have been Anthony Quinn.

Cec Linder as Felix in GF -- nice guy, but way too old. Felix should be Bond's buddy, not his dad.
Denise Richards in TWINE for sure -- can't take her seriously.
Britt Ekland in TMWTGG -- same issue I have with Richards.
Toby Stephens in DAD -- character is too young to be plausible.

Add Charles Gray to the list as well. Good casting in YOLT but his interpretation of Blofeld is too polite

I'm gonna get heat for this one, but Talisa Soto as Lupe in LTK.

I feel that her delivery on lines was so mediocre, it just seemed unprofessional.

"Please, James. Don't go."
"I love James, so much."
"Where are you going?! Are you loco? You'll get us both killed."

I understand that she didn't write her lines, and she wasn't given much to work with, but I feel that someone else could've enhanced the role a little bit.

Don't get me wrong, she wasn't horrible, but I just think she could've been stronger throughout the film.

I agree, Ms. Soto was pretty weak as an actress. But man, is she gorgeous! (Of course, the same could be said for Ms. Roberts and Ms. Richards, too, but their looks couldn't overcome their acting deficiencies either!)

My only casting disapprovals were all with Bond girls- Rosie, Goodhead & Sutton. I'd add Goodnight to that list if I didn't LOL so much during her TMWTGG scenes.

Up until DAF the casting in the Bond movies had in general been excellent. Picking unknown European actors such as Lotte Lenya, Gert Frobe etc. to play the villains.

Cec Linder as Felix - I'm with Sir Hilary Bray.
Guy Dolman as Count Lippe - too English and no enough menace.
Charles Grey as Blofeld - too urbane and cultured for Blofeld.
Norman Burton as Felix - more like a bumbling cop than a CIA agent.
Tanya Roberts as Stacey - enough said
Jonathan Pryce as Carver - too lightweight for a billionaire media mogal
Denise Roberts - same as Tanya Roberts.

Tend to agree that Mathieu Amalric was miscast as Greene but the part was so underwritten its hard to see what any actor could have done with it.

You're not alone. Physically wrong perhaps, but he has an urbane charm that goes hand in hand with Tom Mankiewicz's delicious dialogue.

My only problem is casting the same actor in different roles. He'd already successfully played Dikko Henderson, so it seemed a bit lazy to cast him in another high profile role barely four years later.

I actually think Mathieu Amalric should have switched roles with Mads Mikkelsen. Mikkelsen, a trained dancer and a large, athletic man, was disapointed that his Bond villan was so physically passive. He would be a cridibel threath to Bond in QoS. Amalric is plenty creepy to play Le Chiffre.

I also think most Felex Leiter's were miscast, especially John Terry in TLD. It would have been much better if David Hedison had played him in at least both of Dalton's Bonds.

Pierce Brosnan thinks Monica Bellucci should have played Paris Carver instead of Teri Hatcher. I agree.

Tanya Roberts (AVTAK), Denise Richards, Talisa Soto(LTK) and Gloria Hendry (LALD) are also weak Bond girls. Salma Hayek was just a TV-actress who couldn't speak english in 1989, but I find myself imagining what she could have done with the part of Lupe in LTK. Angela Basset could also have been a good Lupe.

According to IMDB Tiffani Thiessen was considered for the part of Dr. christmas Jones. I'm not sure she would have been any better. One of the few graces of Denise Richards is her looks, and I think Thisssen isn't as beautiful as Richards. Neither is she a better actress.

Jennifer Connelly, Saffron Burrows, Cate Blanchett and many other would have been improvements. Better actresses who would have been believable as scentists.

Also, what does everyone think of Lois Chiles? I think she's one of the more attractive Bond women, but she was rather wooden in my opinion. Same with Barbara Bach.

No lines crossed here. I, too, found both actresses to be pretty bland in terms of their acting.

Oh, it definitely matters! Halle Berry is just as beautiful, if not moreso, but I think her weak acting in DAD mattered a lot!
