Has anyone been to hmv recently? If so, how much does the 22 boxset cost and is it worth getting? Is the picture and sound quality good?
Have you ever heard of the Emancipation Proclamation?"

The last time I went in they didn't have it...I'd wait for the sales now.

I went in the Southend HMV the day before yesterday and could only see the blu-ray set if that's what you mean. Can't remember how much it was though. Can have another look though.

If you want the best picture and sound, IMO you hold try to invest in a blu-ray player - there's no comparison. I have a couple of the Bond films on blu-ray and its like watching them at the cinema.

    What is 4k & 8k???
  • Sir MilesSir Miles The Wrong Side Of The WardrobePosts: 27,756Chief of Staff
TV screen resolution...far superior to bluray....some bluray players will try and upscale to 4k now...but you need the tv obviously...people that have seen 8k says its as good as looking out of the window for lifelikeness...also giving a 3d image without the glasses...

Home TV technology is getting out of hand! Haha, 8k...is that really necessary?? :p

I personally think 1080 HD is perfectly sufficient, and highly recommend the blu-ray collection if you are able to go for that instead of the DVDs. Most of the films feature excellent HD transfers. The only real disappointment is Goldeneye, which has been given an excessive amount of digital noise reduction, which reduces the grain, but also reduces the finer details of the picture. Still, it is an upgrade from the DVD version nonetheless.

And when they encode the films in 4k then all will be revealed ! Most of the older films could struggle with the higher definition...its coming though...
