In regards to Bond asking quarrel to fetch his Shoes, I don't think anything racist was meant by it.
Perhaps not, but it certainly comes across that way. Maybe I'm especially sensitive to it as a Black man who has occasionally been spoken to that way by White people, but I wince every time I view that scene.

It does indeed jar. However it has some counterweight in as much as Bonds fury at Quarel's death which he clearly does feel, particularly in the novel.

Both feature a secondary double agent Bond girl. Further, Bond is well aware of it and sleeps with them anyway (LALD is a little more questionable, but Moore does say that he wouldn't have killed her before he slept with Rosie).
