its a bit like a kick in the guts. No reason for getting weepy but still shocking :o

IMO the silence after the shooting works very well!

Nope. I did feel pretty sad the first time I seen the film though - because of how unexpected it was.

I was shell-shocked and dismayed when I first laid eyes on the dead Tracy then I cried after the movie ended then rolled to the commercials, but I was very young - perhaps a infant schooler (though I've read about much older adult viewers crying over Tracy's death and also the deaths of Mathis, Aki, and Vesper).

Yep. The only Bond film where I ever did so. They were smart enough to hire an actress of the caliber of Diana Rigg to play Tracy, and she brought more gravity to the role than the script offered. But they were also smart enough to spend a little more time developing the romance so it wasn't just a standard throwaway. The only other bond that tried in this regard was Casino Royale, and another 10 minutes of romance in that film probably would have gotten me to the same point.

I agree. I shed no tears, but I remember sitting in stunned silence for a few minutes before I coud leave the theater.
