How to fix a busted USB stick

Right, this complete arse saves a file on my memory stick, it corrupts the memory and now I've lost everything on the usb stick.

Anyone got any ideas on how to get it back?

Please don't suggest shoving up my arse, smashing it with a hammer or turning off and on again, I'm desperate to get these files back and besides I've tried the above ideas already.

Ta,

    There are a couple of photo software programmes you can buy as well as a few free downloads

    http://www.techradar.com/news/software/applications/best-free-recovery-software-1141256

    Sadly I can't remember which free one I used but to recover some lost photos I used a free download
    Which did work on an old CF card.

    Depends on what kind of file you want to restore.

    Pics can be best recovered with exif untrasher - not sure if it exists for Win.

    If you want to, you can send me over the stick and I'll have a try.
    I have rwcovered 2 deleted camera cards that way.

    It's a mix of photos and other files, drawings and .stl files etc.

    I've found some sites online offering free programs etc but they look dodgy to me, I don't wanna download a virus and make things worse.

    Cheers for your advice though guys.

    Oh and the microwave is a stupid option pete. The slow cooker however...

    Yeah, 'was' being the word there.

    Now continue your lines;

    I wasn't that bad ;% she did get fed up with all the cd-r coasters I made her though, it is a rather good way to erase them and a good firework display to boot :D

    Right I've figured a way of getting this sorted, here, just for you lurvely peeple is the solution;

    So the drive appears in 'my computer' but double clicking it results in 'disk not accessable and unreadable'.

    ****!! you exclaim, all is lost forever down the electronic craphouse! Not now!

    After following this tutorial, the solution is simple, and theres no download or program to install.

    1) check which drive you wanna fix, usually F: for memory sticks

    2) click the start button, and choose the run function

    3) type 'chkdsk /f F:' and enter, or click ok

    4) let yo shizzle do the bizzle

    5) if prompted, choose yes

    6) et voila, your memory stick is redeemed, and all your donkey porn, i mean important files are saved from the bin.

    Hope this helps anyone else out in a similar predicament.

    Ciao for now,

    I guess he pulled the USB drive out without ejecting?? Seen this corrupt them loads of times!!!!

    Im amazed by the amount of people who save direct to USB stick as their main and only source, in my IT working days I had to recover tons of peoples work from USB sticks, they generally go tits up eventually!!

    I've only ever used a usb stick to transfer files, not to keep permament files on.
    What makes you think this is my first time?

    I am not surprised that microjiff refused to ship me the corrupted stick but was desperate to find his own solution - porn :D
    How on earth does he manage to keep and find his porn "collection" on USB sticks?
    The NSA must have a single serverroom just for bugging him and keeping all the stuff :D
