  You can see him standing behind Goldfinger at one point, he was just lost in the edit. It's a well known
  oddity in the film. ) I like to think seeing he was up against Connery, he chose to shoot himself.

  I always just assumed that when Goldfinger accidently shot out the window on the plane, the guard somehow fell and hit his head off camera as Goldfinger and Bond were hanging on for dear life due to the sudden loss of cabin pressure, and passed out.
