The Magnum pi thread

Being a Bond Fan for the best part of my life, I am also a Magnum pi fan and thought that there must be someone here who shares my passion.
If I had to choose for the "remote island", if I want to take the 007 movies or the MPI episodes with me, it will be the later.
They always cheer me up and there is barely a week, that I have not seen at least 3 episodes.
I have been twice to Oahu already, visiting Robin's nest and this:
is my computer wallpaper.
You can see rabbit island on the right and TC's helipda in the background.
Following that road, you reach Robin's nest.
This morning I came across with these news:
http://tv.msn.com/tv/article.aspx?news=850402
"'Magnum P.I.' Hawaiian mansion up for sale
The Hawaiian house where Tom Selleck's iconic TV series "Magnum P.I." was set has been put on the market for $15 million.
The sprawling Oahu, Hawaii, beachfront mansion served as the setting for Robin's Nest, the fictional estate Selleck's character, Thomas Magnum, called home for all nine seasons of the hit crime drama.
Located on the southeast coast of the island, the private residence covers three acres, and the sprawling main house includes five bedrooms and five baths, as well as a boat house, bath house and tennis courts."

Speaking of detectives with a fine moustache, anyone rememder this guy ? Matt Huston.
I actually once fell off a small ferry at night. I was being sick over the side, and the rail gave way. Travelling alone, nobody missed me to sound the alarm. I treaded water all night. I thought of the episode where he got knocked off a surf ski and treaded water for over 24 hrs. I think it got me through. I found myself shouting at god, my dead grandfather, praying out loud that sharks would stay away... At dawn when i could make out land I swam what I estimated to be 2 miles to shore. It took 3 hours. I was in the water just under 8 hours. Not quite Magnum's record, but still...

How old have you been when this happened and where was it?
Would you mind that I share your story with the guys on Magnum Mania?

I'm a big Magnum fan. Though the series had some bad episodes and the lack of continuity was frustrating (T.C. has no kids… wait, he does have kids!), the characters and the chemistry between the actors made it worth watching. And I consider 'Did You See the Sunrise?' one of the best things ever shown on TV. (So does the creator of 'Archer': https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7gdj62aqx-w )
Thomas Magnum is also just a great character: Tough but sensitive, loyal to his friends, good sense of humor, smart and well-read but not pretentious, takes what he does seriously but doesn't take himself too seriously.
Incidentally, I've lived in Hawaii for 30+ years and go past Magnum filming locations virtually every day. It's about a 10 minute walk from my house to the Wai'alae Beach Park, which is the location of the pavilion that served as the King Kamehameha Club's outdoor bar.

Wai'alae Beach Park is such a nice place. They shot a lot around the Kahala resort and we can also see that long beach where Magnum is often jogging at the beginning of the episodes.
That outdoor bar pic is great! Whenever I am there and try to snap a pic, there are plenty of peoplle!
I assume that life is good on Oahu?

Life on Oahu is GREAT... It just happens to be mind-crushinlgy expensive. Price of paradise, as they say.
