Do we know why Bond changes his watch for the later scenes? He wore an Aqua Terra for a lot of Skyfall so presumably we can assume it was who's own personal watch. Is the Seamaster on the NATO strap an homage to the early Connery films or a family heirloom? Any thoughts?
I have not read the script but I've heard whispers
I must confess that the one thing that really bothers me about the Craig era is the plugging of the different lines of Omega watches and lacking the consistency that we had with the Brosnan era. Where Brosnan wore updated versions of the same line, the smp Craig on the other hand has worn the PO, smp, AT and the SM300 mc. 3 out of his 4 Bond outings has him wearing two different watches per film.
The watches are great but I just wish there was a more defining watch that encompasses the Craig era much like what the smp was for Brosnan. For a while I thought it would be the PO but that's obviously not the case.

I agree to some extent. Although there is a valid plot reason for all the watches (bulky PO on assignment in Madagascar versus dressier SMP for Montenegro, new PO for QoS, same PO for Skyfall but then was sold to fund "enjoying death" and then AT for the rest of the film) I think the inability of the watches to remain constant in the movies is the same problem Omega has in general - whereas Rolex have essentially kept the submariner the same (with a few stylistic changes over the years) and have an instantly recognisable classic as a result, Omega keep releasing numerous new and improved Seamasters over the last 20 years (SMP, PO and now SE300) they just keep making the previous models look dated. The one watch they have left (mostly) untouched is the Speedmaster Moonwatch and that IS a recognisable classic.

Well I guess when I think about the different watches it kinda makes sense. In Casino, he wears the PO on the rubber band. After going through the chase in African and the Miami scenes, it was probably beat up. So, he changed to the SMP. Also, it is a much more "dressy" watch with the metal band. Then, after the fight scene in the falling building, Bond uses it (or was suppose to) as a knuckle duster. It's probably beat up pretty bad as well.
So in Quantum, he's wearing the PO thought the whole movie.
Then in Skyfall, he's wearing a PO again. However, after he falls from a very high bridge and then is saved somehow; I imagine the PO either being sold for money or stolen from him when he was unconscious. Later, Bond is wearing a brand new AT through the rest of the movie.
Now onto Spectre. He starts the movie wearing a very similar AT and then eventually he gets the SM300 MC. As I've read, this is important to the movie and could be considered a spoiler. I won't go into detail.
Of course I'm over thinking it all and this was really just the way my head explained Omega pushing their newest watches. )

The changes do make sense plotwise but it doesn't stop it from being a tad annoying...just a tad. i get tge PO in Africa but once he's in Montenegro and onwards he could have dressed it up with the bracelet; afterall he wore tge 42mm version in QoS and then the PO again at tge start of SF. I like the idea of him selling his PO to finance 3 months of loafing around in Turkey but when he comes back he shells out for a bew AT? He could have just got another PO but i guess that wiuldnt be as interesting (which is slightly odd as the AT wasnt even marketed with Bond to help push sales unlike the PO).
Its not really a big deal I suppose and more of an observation in which I would have prefered Bond to stick with the PO but i'm a bit of a whore when it comes to particular Bond items and as such, since Craig became Bond my bank balance has had to accommodate the smp, PO, skyfall AT and now the SM300 mc.
Are you going with the Skyfall Version 38.5 without polished center links or the new 41MM Spectre Version with the polished links? I own the Skyfall AT and gotto say it's an amazing looking watch esp with dress clothes/business casual.
Has anyone bought the Spectre Aqua Terra Special Edition and if so is it any good?
I have one in my hand at the moment (I'm at work). The blue "coat of arms" dial is very understated - in fact the whole Bond link is very subtle. It's a beautifully finished Aqua Terra and the 9mm bullet on the caseback looks pretty cool.
The box it comes in is awesome - covered in the Bond coat of arms and you get an extra blue fabric strap, and watch tool and loupe for fitting it.
Hi
Have all Omega dealers in the UK got one, or is there a choice if you have one? Do you know if they are also bringing out a Seamaster 300m special with a NATO strap?

All Omega dealers in the North East have the Bond AT in...
Re the 300, word is so far that you need to buy the std watch and add the NATO yourself... But I have a feeling we might hear something re a Spectre Nato SM300mc around Sept....
Ive bought a Nato strap today for my CR PO, and if no official version will swap it to a SM300MC IN Oct time

You think there will be a special version of the strap, the watch (300MC) or both?

I cant believe Omega wont take the obvious opportunity re the SM300mc / nato combo...
Word at the moment is they wont, but things change quickly !
Ah ok, will check my local one later in week to have a look at one.
Would prefer the 300MC special edition. Like it anyway just not a fan of the bracelet with the shiny centre links so NATO may be the way to go for me.
Yeah same here re dislike of shiny strap
Worst case scenario, if they bring out a 300/nato special is I'll have a spare strap for the future once put the CR PO back to standard rubber strap...
Just found the closest thing to "frugal" version of the Aquaterra at...wait for it £59.99. On my next pay I think I think (on my budget) I might be purchasing one of these Model MB86ON

Nice.
But if you want a near-perfect piece have you seen the sea-gull??

Yes, but the only one problem is that this watch is a limited edition. I got the mine in a second-hand watch forum, and it was not easy to convince the owner.
Good lucky with the search. if I get one of this pieces I'll tell you.

Yep your right, I've been searching all day to no avail...shame it's a lovely looking timepiece!!!
Was at my local Omega boutique last weekend, seriously considering the Spectre AT limited edition. It's not bad value when compared to other similar models, or even compared to the SF PO.
However, the manager was telling me about the second limited edition which they're going to see in store around September time. It'll be based around the Master Co-axial SM300, but details are scarce just yet. It won't simply be a SM300 on a NATO though - it'll be another limited edition proper.
So, I'm holding my purchase a couple of months. I doubt that the current limited edition will sell out - there were plenty of Skyfall PO's around nearly 2 years after the release of that edition and this edition is 3 times bigger, at 15,007 units.
Interesting that he is wearing the Aqua Terra in this scene. I thought he would have switched to the NATO Seamaster after the HQ scenes and kept that throughout the film.

I can tell you. But I can't 'un-tell you'.

I'll probably go with the Spectre one just because I already have the 300MC and want the complete set of watches.

Saw this today at the Omega Boutique in Westfield Shopping Centre - West London. Looks very nice.
