    Dear Sirs,

    I wish to register a complaint. The breathers what I bought from this very boutique not more than 9 months ago do not, in fact, breathe. If I hadn't been nailed to my deckchair, I would by now still be at the bottom of the ocean, blue, bereft of life, have shuffled off my mortal coil, be expired, run down the curtain and joined the choir invisible. I'd be an ex-AJBer.

    I wish to discuss a replacement.

    Regards,

    Domino Effect (Mr), Ret'd.

    Picked up my breathers from Parcel Force today and got it home opened it up and upon opening the box with breathers in and picked up the Thunderball Breather and found I also have one with white fingerprint glue marks X-( I think the problem is excess glue around the cylinder where it connects to the brass part.
    Have contacted FE regarding problem.

    Cheers Pete I fairly confident they can.

    I just thought it would be good to alert people who may have bought more than 1 for posterity/investment purposes to open them up and check them rather than leaving them sealed up.

    Ok so it's been a long time coming but I thought some of you guys might wanna see this.

    Some of you will be all too aware, but others who have joined since this all began might be still in the dark, so to enlighten some, here's the story;

    A while ago my good mate pete contacted me to see if I'd be interested in looking over some blueprints of an old prop. Daft question but yeah, I'll have a butchers. The old prop turned out to be the breather from thunderball.

    Years back I made a replica of the mini homer from GF. That got wittingly called Bart (mini homer) and Bart came from the inside of Marge, so when I made the Gilette razor from GF, marge it was.

    Then the TB breather came along and as you put it in your gob much like a baby with a dummy, it got nicknamed Maggie. Witty huh?

    So I started converting the plans into something usable and sourcing materials. There were others around the world sourcing the all important genuine 1960's sparklet bulbs. Thanks to everyone's efforts a generous amount of these were found. -{

    The first prototype was made and shown to pete who suggested some changes around the cylinders and mouthpiece. Some choices on display options were taken at this point too.

    After the changes were made, I made the first off the line as the final draft as it were. Both pete and I were happy with this and it's what we went forward with. Maggie was complete and a few lucky and happy people had a rather cool addition to their collections.

    Then came a great call. Barry at Factory Entertainment had seen Maggie and was interested if I'd be able to help out. It was an invite I'd be stupid to turn down. Barry was interested in making a double set of breathers, both from TB and DAD, the evolution set he called it.

    Barry sent me some info he'd taken from the real DAD breather prop and asked if I could make a Maggie and DAD version as prototypes to put into production.

    For Maggie I hadn't any parts left so moulds were taken from my original and resin parts cast and assembled to make a resin Maggie. For the DAD version I had to start from scratch, finding the MGE diving canisters and mouthpiece from a dive shop in Devon. I machined the body from aluminium and thought a cute twist would be to make the canisters detachable. Barry went nuts for that idea as it adds a bit if realism, even if its unseen and not originally featuring on the real prop. I packaged everything up and sent it off to FE hoping everything would be acceptable.

    A year or more later, the evolution set had made it through licensing and was out for production. A little longer waiting and yesterday I received my artist proof set in the post.

    Must say that my cylinders on Maggie were out of line, but a stiff twist and some epoxy will put that right.

    So here for your sharp little eyes are a few shots of the Maggie prototype, my Maggie, a set of prototype evolution breathers and the artist proof from FE, with the notebook that features in the booklet just to show that it really was me that made them!

    Enjoy guys,

    MG -{

    I used to be but am no longer a collector and fan of replica props because no matter how hard the replicator tries without access to the original source material he/she rarely gets it right. The FE Moonraker Space Marine's rifle being a proof in point :(

    With the FE Breather set Danjerkoff and Microjiff have got the balance right with detailing which we believe to be correct or at least it looks pretty much spot on to the 1965 prop Bert Luxford placed in my sweaty paws at a Bond convention held at Pinewood Studios late last century to the 40th Anniversary rethink of the same device which we are pretty certain we know what it looks like through HD screen grabs & personally through hands on access "only" to an original filming prop once as it went to someone with deeper pockets....Bugger!

    Gents....a job well done -{

    Great to hear the tale behind the prop. This story is the TRUE evolution of the breathers!!
    Jeff and Pete have given the Bond collectors around the world a most amazing piece to add to their collections. We, are AJB, are doubly previledged to know and call them friends.
    THANKS guys!!!!
