All of a sudden I feel that Bondtots is the only sane person here.

    A sad day for humanity.

The early seasons had great music and interesting guest stars like G. Gordon Liddy

The show is a real time capsule of the 1980s

Check out the episode where they go to New York

Loved it. Just one of the reasons why the 1980s rocked. -{ :))

Don Johnson still looks pretty good (anyone seen Machete?) but haven't seen Philip Michael Thomas in anything since, which is a shame.

Absolutely the hottest show of the 80's for me! Great use of colors / lights, great score (especially the Jan Hammer contributions) and after Dick Wolf entered for the 3rd season the scripts and dialogues became far better too.

Now, to the movie 2006. The year Bond was to be reborn quite splendidly. My dream year, a new Bond. but even better - CASINO ROYALE!!!!!!! And a movie of Miami Vice directed by Michael Mann. 2006 should have been epic.

Sadly, while Royale soared, Miami Vice was panned. And, well, I agree to some extent. Farrell was far removed from Crockett, and Foxx the same for the character of Tubbs. God knows what they they were thinking with Castillo's character. But all that said, if you distance yourself from the TV series and all that it meant and was..... the 2006 movie, if viewed just as a movie and NOT Miami Vice, was a damned good film, and the music was soooooo Miami Vice.

And now we get onto Foxx. Yeah we know Farrell was never sober or coherent throughout filming, he admitted that, but Foxx was. Foxx was great in Collateral, but he failed as Tubbs. And this is where we draw the Dalton comparison into effect. He just could not pull off cool, hard and introspective. Phillip Michael Thomas had it in spades, it came naturally to him. You can't act these things, Foxx is a good actor, so is Dalton, but they couldn't pull it off. The eyes, the expression. This video shows it all. Misty-eyed Tubbs....

I seem to remember and feeling sorry for P.M.T (Tubbs) not getting as many lines /as much dialog as Crockett but having to rely more on his eye/facial expressions a sign of a very good actor they can say a lot with out saying a word

I must admit I enjoyed the MV movie, saw it at the cinema at the time and also recently at home and still enjoyed it.

I immensely enjoyed 2006 MV - The Movie!

The end could have been more spectacular but the entire tone has been brilliantly adjusted to the modern age.
The music was a highlight and you can find many elements from the series.

I agree with Foxx though. PMT has been unsurpassed. He and Johnson where the epitome of cool!

Farrell was slightly too young for the role imo and Foxx left me unimpressed but not as annoying as Dalton

Terrence Howard should have played Tubbs.

Anyone who liked the MV movie should get the Directors Cut. It wasn't released in any great quantity, but can still be tracked down. The story improves with the extras included back in, and the shoot out at the end to In The Air Tonight works much better.

Really enjoyed the movie too! Typical Mann atmosphere (like in Manhunter, Heat and Collateral), great score and a cool Ferrari. Plus, Farrell proved a mullet can be pulled off by some people...

I would have liked to see Michael K. Williams (Omar in The Wire) as Tubbs and Bradley Cooper or Ryan Gosling as Crocket.

I said that it was the real one in that scene on the first page. Keep up you dumpling.

    Asp9mm wrote:
That's right. That was just for the pilot and it was only used in that scene when Sonny is sitting in it reading the paper. When the series was accepted and went ahead, they only used the replicas.
