now if we was all down the pub/bar im sure the subject of the missing plane would come up after the 4th round ,
There is a lot of effort trying to find wreckage ect,but my theory is the plane has been hijacked (I know no ransom demands have been issued) but we all remember 911 in new York , well my idea is that this plane will be used as a flying bomb to drop on who knows where ? im sure the CIA FBI Mi6 have have thought of this too I hope 8-) but funnier things have happened before
normaly filed under the bleedin obvious

Although the thriller writer in me ( No dirty jokes please ) thinks this is a truly amazing story, Straight out of
a Fleming type Novel. The hijacking of a passanger air liner, to land on some deserted or makeshift landing site.
Especially these days when we are all under so much survelliance. To think an aircraft can simply disappear, is
astounding.
Although there is an Old episode of Banachek, I seem to remember where a Jumbo Vanished.
Still I hope there will be a happy ending to all this,But the longer it goes on, It would seem Not.

As far as I know that stolen passport story has been found to be a dead end.
Passports are stolen and sold in Thailand to allow people to board planes who want to claim asylum in the West.
The iranian bloke who headed to Frankfurt has his mother already living there and she confirmed that he planned to claim asylum in Germany.
With his iranian passport that would not have been possible.

I think the most likely explanations are:
-The passangers fought back and the plane crashed before the terrorists could carry out their plan.
- The plane is in some isolted airfield or improvised landing strip in central Asia, most likely northern Pakistan, avaiting some sinister use. But why? The plane is the most "useful" when no-one is searching for it and the tanks are full.
If so, where was it flying to? There is nothing out there. One theory: perhaps there was an aircraft carrier out here that could be a target? This would be a big, fat target for terrorists. I know it's technically easy to shoot down a passenger plane from an aircraft carrier, but to make that call in a few short minutes ....
indication that a precise location has been established by Spy satellites.
B: If this pilot was good enough to fly like an Israeli commando and shadow other planes it is possible to get
to land but this operation would take a platoon to control all on board.
C: Worst case scenario - Global security would be at risk. the plane could be refueled and loaded with a
WOMD.
If this is the case let's hope that special forces are already deployed.
Tom Clancy? no. I say A..
I was made aware of another explanation of the disapearance of the plane. One of the pilots may had been mentally unstable. He could simply had locked the reinforced cockpit door while his co-pilot was at the wc, turned off the signals to the outside world, turned the plane around and flown out into the Indian ocean until he crashed it into the sea. I understand there is little or no mobile phone coverage in the middle of the ocean.
Actually the airspace in Afghanistan isn't as heavily monitored as you'd think. There was zero air threat during the action. The Taliban have no air power.

If it's underwater (particularly in a dell), it gets far more difficult.

1. When there is such a fire, all pilots are ordered to land asap. He rose to 15000 meters.
2. When there is such an enormous fire that all transponders are off - the plane will not likely fly another 7 hours on autopilot.

It didn't have to be an enormous fire. It could have been a small, contained electrical fire that knocked out the systems one by one...starting with the transponder, the radio and finally the controls etc and which emitted carbon monoxide fumes that incapacitated the crew and passengers. The pilot may well have tried to head for Langkawi because it was the closest 'safe' runway. In a situation like that, the pilot has the discretion to choose between landing immediately on a short risky runway or extending the flight to land on a safer, longer, better-equipped airport. If he makes the wrong decision either way he could lose his job...or his life. Other runways that would have sufficed were indeed closer, but if at the time his decision was made the fire seemed to be out or under control, the pilot may well have aimed for the nearest 'safe' runway rather than taking a chance on a shorter, riskier strip (this theory falls apart if the fire was major). The situation then worsened after the decision to head for LGK.
My gut from the start has been that this was a catastrophic accident, and although as rumours, unconfirmed details and new facts over the course of the past 1.5 weeks have helped to waiver that conviction from time to time, I still maintain that it's the most likely cause. I'm not sold on the fire theory - although I think it's the best theory out there - it could have been some other catastrophic technical failure that shut down those systems one by one. A modern airliner like the 777 is run entirely by computers today. If there was a major computer failure (highly unlikely given the redundancies, but no less likely than most of the other theories), the crew would be helpless.
I absolutely don't think it's terrorism or crime. Suicide is a possibility, but I again have strong doubts. I hope for the sake of the families and everyone involved that we find out quickly what happened.
