Michael G Wilson told reporters at the launch of Bond In Motion yesterday that Bond 24 would feature a new Aston Martin.

Read about it and watch the video here.

I'm very pleased. I quite like the idea of the Bentley, but I'm happier with an Aston.

Glad to hear it, from the first time I viewed Goldfinger as a young boy I fell in love with Aston Martin.

I hope that Corgi makes a die-cast version the model that Bond drives when Bond 24 is ready to open in cinemas next year.

I somehow knew there would be an Aston in the next film. I don't think any members who had hoped one day they would show Bond in a Bentley of any make should hold their breath. It's obvious that because of the iconic history of the Aston in the series it will always be the car Bond drives.

It could come back - what happened to the one he won in the Bahamas in CR?

Product placement (and the dollars it provides) wins.

I somehow knew there would be an Aston in the next film. I don't think any members who had hoped one day they would show Bond in a Bentley of any make should hold their breath. It's obvious that because of the iconic history of the Aston in the series, as well as the amount of financing it provides EON, it will always be the car Bond drives........unless another company gives them more money.

Sorry, but I can't agree and I think that you are very wrong about it!

Aston Martin is no longer part of the Ford Motor Group so the times of the big paychecks are over!
In SF the Tata group obviously paid top Dollars to see Jaguars and Ranges all over the place.
And I am sure they would outbid AM by a mile.

To see AM back has more to do with heritage than with cash and btw Walther has never paid though I am sure that their competitors would have been happy to buy the slot.

It's good to see that EON is not only after the $$
President of the 'Misty Eyes Club'.

Dalton - the weak and weepy Bond!

Totally agree with Bondtoys, Aston simply doesnt have the financial clout to compete at the level required to "win" a bidding war for a Bond placement...

Knowing the company (which I am fortunately well placed to do), the funds are occupied with racing in endurance class.

I think it is great for Bond to stick with AML... The question is what new car ??? Maybe the new baby AMV8 ??? Due a new model and much more accessible to many than the DBS or if its the Vanquish ???

I suspect it won't be introduced until close to the Bond 24 release date.

As for info on the new Aston - I suspect we'll learn little until the film hits the screens, at the earliest when it's filming. Even then they will probably use pre-production models.

@barracuda I am not sure, some fans think that the DB5 in Skyfall is the same one that was in Casino Royale having been refitted with gadgets. However it should be noted that the DB5 in CR is right hand drive and the one in SF is left hand drive. Despite this theory, their was no spoken dialogue about the DB5 in SF being the same one as seen in CR.

While this is true, I thought it was mentioned in SF that all of Bonds stuff was put into storage upon his death.

On a slightly different point, the DBS in CR was actually a DB9 mock up in most shots, given the filming dates (2005) and the release of the DBS in late 07 (first orders delivered in 08) hardly surprising.....

The Vanquish will run longer than the filming I guess, so could be V8 / V12 replacement model, lots of specials coming out now which usually signals an end run of a model....

Maybe to save on costs they'll just use DC's flame orange V12 V Conv !!!

Bit more to it than that. Two of the cars were actually DBS's...

Yeah was aware that mule DBS's were used, but just adding in that often its a very early prototype etc

The new Aston may well be released a couple of years after the film, as the DBS was....

Thinking about this again and what John Logan said about Skyfall audiences responding favourably to past references such as the DB5, maybe it will simply be another DB5.

Edit: But that doesn't explain what Wilson said about it not being seen yet.

I think many of us settled on the SkyFall DB5 being a simple continuity break that the series has allowed itself by never committing to a timeline between films (even QoS maintained the convention of the films being set in the year of release despite the general logic indicating that the story of Casino Royale was not more than weeks, if not days, before, despite its 2006 dating in the film itself). That DB5 was likely a pleasant compromise to reference both the series' history, as well as the Casino Royale win that could place such a car in Bond's possession.

Since it was in storage in SF, I assumed it was the car from CR. Bond would not have had to garage a company issued car - it would have been at HQ when he was abroad. When they drove off and started mentioning the ejector seat and then later he used the machine guns, I was thoroughly confused! Why would MI6 install armor in his personal Aston at their expense? Since they provided current armored model Astons, they wouldn't. Left/right steering be damned, it really mucks up the whole issue.

Had they not shown him winning the old Aston in CR to begin with (why not a Bentley?), then I could see the old Aston in SF being the iconic armored one that was mothballed and he just kept if for himself.

The thing about the DAD Vanquish and the CR DBS was they were brand, spanking new. As in practically debuting in the film. The new Vanquish is already selling, the AMV8/V12 Vantages are old news now, and they missed their chance with the improbably expensive one77. I can't see the Rapide as Bond's wheels, plus it's old hat now. My money will be on the new Vanquish, which by the time they start filming, Aston will most probably relaunch as an "S" model. Because sadly, they always hold back and have to play catch up in the horsepower department. I remember falling out of love with my dream car, the DB9 when I absolutely trounced, humiliated one in the BMW M5 I used to own. A "run-what-you-brung" event on an airdrome. In a 500+ BHP, 200mph four door, leather bound, gadget laden saloon... With three passengers on board!

Aah, but with these cars, it's not about how fast you can get here, but about the comfort and indulgence and quality of ride that you take. Not to mention how good they look.

Using Fiennes as an old-style M would a waste of a fine actor. I see Bond screwing up (which Craig's Bond does. A lot.). M shows up to read him the riot act and tells him to fix the problem. At the end, M grudgingly admits that Bond has taken care of business.

Still wouldn't take more than a couple of weeks to film, at most.

Don't get me wrong, Astons are pure car porn! I'd have one in a heartbeat. But performance wise, they do seem to hold back, or are unable to match the Germans for power. Near 600bhp Audi Estates come to mind... But yeah, there is the overall package that keep Aston Martins extremely desirable.

That's some great news. Finally, since "Casino Royale", we can again await the Bond car like usually - in a complete conspiracy. In "Quantum of Solace" the featured automobile was the DBS we already knew from the previous movie, in "Skyfall" it was the DB5, which was news long before the movie came out.

As for the Bond 24 car: I really doubt it will be a Vanquish S. Aston Martin's marketing strategy makes us to think that the more powerfull version of the Vanquish will eventually come out, but if that was the case than Michael Wilson's words about a car nobody has seen yet would be a total nonsense. The DBS was based on the DB9 but it wasn't technicaly a more powerful version of the DB9, it was considered as an entirely new flagship model back then, so I guess this time Aston will provide also something special. It might be based on the Vanquish looks however.
