Wasn't one of the original plans for Collins to play the Cowley/Woodward role? Saw him dropping heavy hints on a chat show with Bob Mills back in the day.
I guess Lew didn't like the offer/realised the show would be crap/thought he could do better elsewhere. Delete as one feels applicable.
