Once again I'm in partial agreement. :))
" far for Bond they laid it on with a trowel. In the Nolan Batman films they used an industrial digger! " Love this line. {[]
In some ways I'd like. maybe not a "Fun" film, as Craig's Bond isn't Sir Roger, But a lighter tone. I do hope
they drop the "Bond learning a lesson about life " in every film.
I have to admit, I though they had injected the right amount of humour in Skyfall. Loved the old Bond/Moneypenny
banter back -{ . Also with Skyfall, I got the impression that Craig was much more relaxed in the role. Whether that
was knowing the director already as a friend, or in his own mind he has nothing left to prove to his Fans and detractors.
So perhaps as he seems more confident ( Not that he wasn't confident in his earlier films ) Both he, The Director and
Producers will slightly adjust the mix, to give a still good but less " Emotionally Heavy " Adventure. :))

Sofar with Craig's three films, we've learnt more about Bond as a man, than in all
The Brosnan and Moore Bond films. :D

    …too much information.
    My current 10 favorite:

    1. GE 2. MR 3. OP 4. TMWTGG 5. TSWLM 6. TND 7. TWINE 8.DN 9. GF 10. AVTAK

Hm, that's an interesting subject in itself- how much have we the audience learned about James Bond the man from the movies?

Obviously in the first Connery films we learned a lot, since we didn't know him beforehand. Then as TP says, we learned nothing much from the Moore/Dalton/Brosnan films. Now from the Craig films we're getting more.

I've deliberately not made lists of what we've learned to keep this open, but here's one example- from SF we learned that his parents were called Andrew and Monique (not news to those who've read the books, of course). The only thing I can think of from the Brosnan films was that those parents died in a climbing accident.

I'm sure it was a shock for non Bond fans, to know he came from Scotland. :))

Exactly; we're getting more of Bond the man in the recent movies. It's not too much of a stretch to imagine him going to pieces after Tracy's death- it's covered in the YOLT novel but we don't get to see it onscreen- so this scene serves to humanise him, showing him drinking too much after the loss of Vesper.

Agreed, and the more an audience know about Bond, the more they should
Feel for him, when he's being tortured, or in some kind of peril.
I remember Harrison Ford in an interview say that, if you have no emotional
connecting with who you're watching, you really have no interest in the film.
    He was talking about Indy but I think it works for Bond. -{

Not forgettable so much as these aren't that interesting or worth while. Kind of like Die Another Day.

Not for me they aren't. I agree that Casino Royale is Craig's best Bond so far, but Skyfall is far from forgettable. And Quantum of Solace has grown on me over time, and it's certainly head and shoulders above the likes of Die Another Day. All of this is subjective, of course, but I feel compelled to chime in with my opinion since I think the Craig films are some of the highlights of the Bond films series and I believe they will stand the test of time.

+1, If Connery was the first golden age of Bond and the
70s Moore's the second. For Me with Craig we are lucky
to be in the third Golden age of Bond. He's huge Box office
again, he's Cool again, ( I was wrong again :)) ) so as far
as I can see, the futures bright for old 007. {[]

I was watching Mission Impossible 4: Ghost Protocol recently, and I have to say, there was a certain joie de vivre (Mange Tout, Rodney, Mange Tout :)) ) and humour that didn't detract from the overall thrilling tone of the film, that I really enjoyed.

Bond has never had to copy other spy films but, IMHO, if they can blend the (just right) humour in Skyfall with the slightly lighter, MI:4- esque tone in Bond 24, it would be a winner...

I barely put up with Mission: Impossible 4. So much is wrong with that series too.

If we are being honest Dame Judy should not have returned in the DC reboot. I think it was a bad move that she was ever cast as M. It was a spice girl power move of its time. Political correct bollocks. M was always meant to be headmaster who spoke to bond like a little boy. Dench was just told to play a bitch who made bad decisions. And it was like some kind of edipous complex relationship with bond. Now that Fleming has turned full circle in his grave I hope they get Fiens interpretation right

Casting Dench for GE was a masterstroke, she is a brilliant actress and having a female M shook things up a bit. But good as she was, I'm not always sure it was right to re-cast her in Craig's films. It made no sense that the M of the reboot was the same as Brosnan's M. M was also used too much, traveled after Bond too much and the "Mother" angle was questionable.
Still, CR and Skyfall are very good movies :007)

Next you will be telling me you want Will Smith to be the next bond or Daniel Craig to play Malcolm X.

That depends would you have an issue with jason Statham playing Dr King?. Fleming defined the character he created, I just think you have to cast to part and that does include ethnic roots. For example you couldnt have Rihanna playing Stephen Hakins in a biopic. Its not sexist or racial prejudice its just if a parts already defined and its disrespectful to the creative artist who created the character. My wife is mixed race. I don't have a prejudice bone in my body so I take offence to your small minded response. Again my point is simple creative art is that of its creator, that should be respected and protected free from political correctness and "just to drawn in a greater audience". Naomi Watts mixed race, Felix lighter now played by a mixed race actor both great actors their charchters were not defined enough in the novels so it works.

Perhaps you could/should have expanded (slightly) with your original post...as it stands, it doesn't read as you intended...
