QI is so educational! I just found out there were rifle ranges in pubs in Birmingham during the Boer war. Then it was banned - because it led to gambling :))

On a big nostalgia TV vibe at the moment. Recently bought Buck Rogers in the 25th Century and the
Original 1978 Battlestar Galactica -{ great fun re-watching these old favourites.

I've never seen those two TV series. That is, I saw the modern version Battlestar Galactica and liked it a lot, but I understand the origional series was far more camp. Our public broadcaster never showed any sci-fi series when I grew up. No Dr Who, Star Trek, Battlestar Galactica etc. NRK did make a sci- fi mini series in 1978 that wasn't bad, though. That was the only SF I was exposed to as a kid.

The pub has been pretty quiet recently- any chance of a pint of lager and a ploughman's supper?
  • ThunderpussyThunderpussy Behind you !Posts: 63,792MI6 Agent
The ploughman hasn't been in but you can have
    That Sheppard's pie.

One of the usual, please. :)
This afternoon I really envied people without a garden, or at just a tiny one. Moving the lawn(s) and weeding the flower beds and hedges is boring and slow work. If there only was some kind of place where I could just give people money and they gave me berries and fruit in return …. :#

Watching Battlestar Galactica ( 1978 ) I noticed in some sequences they
were using Tablets, They looked just like our tablets of today ;)

I've never seen the 1978 version, but I think the mechanics in Star Trek TNG used tablets too. Speaking of futuristic, the first automatic grocery store in Oslo has opened and several cities are planning taxis and buses without drivers. Thank good this place still has the personal touch.
    A Coke Zero please, A.R.S.E.

We were out for Fathers Day yesterday and had the best jug of Pimms I’ve ever tasted, so let’s test the landlord here at the SABS to make a better one :D

Great News from the Backroom Boys, the latest AJB computer role playing game
is up and running. A big Treat for fans of FRWL, as you can be Kerim Bey !
Enjoying all the excitement of working in a Market, selling rugs, keeping
records and Accounts. Thrill as deliveries arrive and have to be checked off the list.
Deal with matching price promises of competing rug sellers. Filling out forms so
all EU directives are adhered to, Hours of fun and excitement for all.
Coming next year, is TLD, a big secret from the Backroom Boys, but they did let slip
It will be a big thrill for all of us who enjoy sitting in a gas supply control room, checking
pressure gauges, as a football match plays in the background.

I know the Southern parts of Europe are experiencing 40-45 degrees Celsius and no rain. Here I'm experiencing lots of rain and 7 degrees celsius. Surely some kind of compromise is possible? :#
