Favourite Bond Film in Your Favourite Film List

M 'n' MM 'n' M Posts: 105MI6 Agent
From all the posts i think it's safe to say we all like James Bond films. I'm assuming that means we also like films in general. So my question is: where does your favourite Bond film feature in your Top Ten films of all time? I ask this because when i pull my Top 10 together i find it very hard to justify ANY of the Bond films getting in. And i wonder if that's because while i love Bond and i love the series, there isn't quite ONE film that does it all. Every film has great parts, but they haven't yet made the perfect Bond film yet. Then again, maybe i'm in the minority and everyone else's Top 10 is full of Bonds.

    For me at least I can think of two or three Bonds that would
    easily make it on to many top ten lists of generally great films.
    OHMSS, Casino Royale and Goldfinger -{

    I'm an avid film buff in general, and it would be extremely difficult for me to put together a Top Ten list of My Favourite Films, let alone an absolute favourite film (Not to mention trying to include a Bond film in such a list!!).

    The Bond films which I give 10 out of 10 for (and consider to be "Perfect") are OP, TWINE and TSWLM, yet they would not be on any such Top Ten list of films I might compile, for the simple reason I have seen films which are greater/contain more entertainment value.

    This may sound surprising, coming from a Bond fan, but then those are my feelings on the matter. :s

    Bond films are definitely in my top 10! I actually have to limit just one Bond film as a "placeholder" to avoid the entire list being overrun with 007. And my favorite film of all time is…………………………….1977 Bond film starring Roger Moore -{

    1. The Spy Who Loved Me
    2. Where Eagles Dare
    3. Terminator 2: Judgement Day
    4. Gran Torino
    5. The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance
    6. Yojimbo
    7. Taxi Driver
    8. Red River
    9. Robocop
    10. The Long Kiss Goodnight
    My current 10 favorite:

    1. GE 2. MR 3. OP 4. TMWTGG 5. TSWLM 6. TND 7. TWINE 8.DN 9. GF 10. AVTAK

    Good choice! I think I'd just about be able to justify TSWLM - but probably at no.10 as a guilty pleasure. At the same time I'd have to agree with Brosnan Fan that there are better films out there . . . . and maybe even better action movies??

    I'd have no problem fitting Goldfinger and Casino Royale into my list of top ten favorite (not best) films. You Only Live Twice would probably make it, too. -{

    Interesting, Star Wars and Jedi but no Empire strikes back which is normally considered
    the peak of the franchise. Would you mind to elaborate?

    All the 1960s Bond films. DN to OHMSS, but other films would be -

    The Italian Job (1969), (If you don't succeed, Aunt Nellie here will turn in her grave!)
    Where Eagles Dare, (Broadsword calling Danny Boy), When Eight Bells Toll (Robert Morley v.funny pompous),
    Superman 2 (Bye,bye,baby!), Blade Runner, 2001:A Space Odyssey, (HAL Computer voice-just a moment.),
    Hannibal Brooks (and Lucy the Elephant), Bullitt (You walk your side of the street, and I'll walk mine),
    What's Up Doc! (Barbra Streisand), The Producers (manic with Springtime For Hitler musical),
    and any film with John Barry music - Zulu, Dances with Wolves, The Lion in Winter.

    2001 - HAL- "I'm sorry Dave".

    Star Was is a perfect self-contained film. Return Of The Jedi closes the story. Empire Strikes Back, whilst being the most finely crafted film in the series, is still a middle piece with no real end- you HAVE to see the next movie for closure. B-)
