I'm sure we all feel we know everything about our hero, but we wouldn't be
Human if we didn't have the odd question lurking at the Back of our minds
Which we'd never ask, in case we'd feel foolish or embarrassed feeling others
Might think us stupid or foolish. Could be something simple about the films or
Books.
To save any embarrassment, if anyone has a question they could PM me, then
I could post it here, hopefully to get an answer from one of the many very
Knowledgeable fans we have at AJB007. :D

    Does Bond use condoms and, if not, how does he avoid STDs and fatherhood? My wife asked me that once in what I believe was a sinister attempt on her part to quell my enjoyment of Bond films. Didn't work, though. :D

    I think Bond only dates " Good Girls " so STDs aren't a problem. :))

    Yep - only "Good Girls" like Pussy Galore and Fiona Volpe and Xenia Onnatopp and Mayday and Severine. Hell, they were probably all virgins before 007 got to them! :))

    Did Judi Denche's M have a rank ?
    I was thinking last night, about all the admirals and Col ( new M ) but I
    Couldn't remember ever hearing a reference to any rank with Dame Judi.
    Although she may have been a civilian appointee, I suppose.

    There are a couple of references in Gardner and Benson to Barbara Mawdsley's background but first you have to decide if that is who DJD was playing, and then you have to decide if Gardner, Benson etc are canonical.

    I don't think we will ever know, there are some clues in Golden Eye Tanner reffered to her as "the evil queen of numbers" not sure what is meant by that if she was tight with the budget or because she controlled the "00" division. She was losely based on Stella Rimington former head of MI5 who from what I can tell was a civil servant who supported field work in India as a pen pusher. M implied in Casino Royale she had worked in intelligence for some time, at one point muttering, "Christ, I miss the Cold War". And we know she was section H chief in Honk Kong from 1986 to the Handover of sovereignty over Hong Kong from the British to the Chinese in 1997, My conclusion was that she was not former armed forces and that she was a civil servant who was commited and made her way to the top.

    This one is easy, Solitaire is supposed to lose her powers once her flower has been picked ;)

    No but usually on retirement they are awarded a knighthood. So she would have become Dame ......... on retirement. I think this is what Mallory means in Skyfall when he talks about her leaving with full honours.

    Different from other senior civil servants, my aunt for example was made Dame "Commander of the Bath" while she was still in her job as CEO of her Majesty's Revenue and Custom. But because the head is suppose to be annonymous they would have to wait for retirement.

    No mate. Back in the day secret service was alligned to the royal navy. On formation of MI6 that changed. They needed code breakers and not neck breaker any longer they began approaching highly intellectuals at Oxford and Cambridge for recruits. Tanner is the only charachter which position links MI6 to the millitary as he is chief of staff so heads of MI6, Army, Navy and airforce would report to him. MI6 employees are civil servants just like customs & revenues employees.

    If Silva staged the chemical plant accident to make everyone on the island leg it, thus rendering said island vacant for silva to use as a base, why didn't any mainland authorities come to investigate and easily spot that there wasn't actually any accident?

    I can just imagine all the inhabitants reaching the the mainland; "theres been a big accident that no one actually saw happen, and we've had to leave our island with very few personal belongings"

    customs official; "right............ want some ice cream or something?"

    customs offical2; "think we should notify the coastguard?"

    customs official1; "nah, i only got 2 mins til the end of my shift, and have you seen how many forms there are for a mass immigration attempt due to chemical accident on a neighbouring island?"

    in TP fave film MOONRAKER Bond is in a gondola being chased ,then said Gondola turns into a hovercraft
    so why does he wait to turn the gondola into the hovercraft surely he could of done that earlier 8-)

    I'd say Bond could control the " speedboat " gondola better through the
    Narrow waterways of Venice, while needing to use " hovercraft " gondola
    To move on to land :)) either that or he was just showing off in a
    " Pimp my Gondola " sort of way. :D
