Helen McCrory - AKA Clair Dowar MP - In Bond 24?

I would like to see her return. She has it in for MI6 branch. A good sub plot would be her alleging the events in the hearing when Silva burst in an open fire were staged in an MI6 move to raise fear to show the need for MI6 and its way of conducting business. I like the idea of her sticking her oar in. Or now Mallory is in M's chair Dowar takes Mallorys job meaning Mallory report to her. Shes smoking hot as well and I would welcome her back. Maybe Bond could seduce her. :007)

I'm happy with the old Office crew back M,Q & Moneypenny, Tanner ?, without expanding it
too much. I'd love to see in the next Bond the "Office staff" scenes down to a minimun, and have
Bond sent on a Rip Roaring Adventure. {[]

I think she could be a good political foil to M and Tanner, but I doubt she would suspect MI6 was behind the attack. It was in UK, not Russia or Nigeria it happened. Dowar is a irritating bureaucratic politician, not a conspiracy theory nut.

    But is she smoking hot????
Is it me or are Bond's standards dropping? First Joanne Froggatt is tipped as a Bond girl, then this? Bond would never fall in lust with any of them, his standards are higher than us mere mortals!

Helen McCrory may be approximately the same age as DC, but in sexually-immortal Bond years, she's about 20 years older than him!

Bond has standards when it comes to the fairer sex? This is the guy who banged Fiona Volpe, but only for "Queen and Country."

Sure, Bond would make any sacrifice for Queen and country if he had to, but do we really want to sit in the cinema and watch him make those terrrible choices? Ask yourselves; do we really think it's right to let 007 shag a woman who is not smoking hot? :#

Lets keep the office scenes very brief - beginning (mission brief) and end if need be.

Last few films has had too much emphasis on headquarters

I really don't need the tired modern cliche of internecine conflicts. Just let Bond get out on an adventure that lets him experience something meaningful while having fun and thrills.

I don't have an issue with am MP in the mix - specifically either the Foreign Secretary or the Minister of Defence. after all, Geoffrey Keen was brilliant in all his turns as Sir Freddy Gray, and Julian Fellows (annoyed at Monarch Of The Glen, Thank You for Downton Abbey) made a brief but effective turn in TND. Tim Piggot Smith was also good in QoS as the For S, and did a good job of conveying the unseen PM's disgruntlement with M.

However, as always, it comes down to the writing. If the storyline makes sense to include a member of the cabinet in the office scenes, fair enough. But Dowar is a no-no. An effective performance by Helen McCrory, but there were two points to it. first she was gunning for M-Manf. Looks at Dame Judi's face when Dowar starts her diatribe, she knows she is in trouble. Secondly there is deadpan comedy at work. Dowar has her own agenda, and it takes the M to be Mallory to get her to back off by embarrassing her. Nicely done too.

My position? By all means have a Sir Freddy type if it fits the story. Otherwise, as noted above, leave it to M-Mally, Tanner (whose job really needs to be clarified on screen) Q2 and E-Mp to open and maybe close the film. Have Bond go far and wide on an exciting adventure in far flung parts and bring in Jeff Wrights Felix if appropriate. Enough experimentation and tight budget control. Let's have some classic Bond!

"perhaps we could here from the witness" I believe was the line Mallory used. That shut her up. :))

"Excuse me Minister, I don't meant to interupt. But for the sake of variety, could we actually hear from the witness?"

    (Somewhat abashed). "Of course"

It is a great line with the right level of polite pointedness, and beautifully executed by Mr Finnes! :D
