If all goes well, I should have all the Bond films in Blu-Ray in a week from now.
My grandmother (I'm very young) asked me what I wanted for Christmas and I asked for Bond-50. She was surprised I liked Bond and told me that she was a fan too. What I didn't expect was that she, despite being an old-timer, didn't like Sean Connery at all and preferred Moore. She also told me she was upset when they fired Pierce Brosnan.

Wow, then maybe she's not THAT old, eh? Most folk that saw Connery first as Bond seem to hold him in pretty high regard. Is she like, just about 50?
I followed up with her. She said Brosnan was her favorite. She also liked Craig and Dalton. But she never liked Connery. She was around in the 60's and heard he was a sex symbol but she never once felt attracted to him. I didn't get much reasoning behind each choice. She was more interested in talking about Daniel Craigs other projects though.
So I only have BDs for the films I love, or might want to see from time to time... DN, FRWL (love). GOLDFINGER , just fun. THUNDERBALL, curiosity. OHMSS, great film, love to fantasize if Connery had done it. LALD, childhood favorite, but really a bold reboot attempt. TLD for being just a neat reboot with a new actor, and the new actor putting a strong, dark feeling to it. (Actually you lot convinced me to try it again all these years later, and Target for making it cheap.)
So today Best Buy (US chain) has some of the films for for $4.99 (DN, GOLDFINGER, QOS), including GOLDENEYE. I thought I'd give it a try. There's some silliness in it, but there's also some really effective stuff. Two drop dead beautiful ladies. Nice title song.
I'd forgotten though ... the home video teaser that's on my FRWL VHS tape isn't in the "Propaganda" trailer collection?? Parts of it were used for other trailers, but ... dang it, I used to pop it in just for the trailer.
Do you folks know what I'm talking about? It's the atmospheric music, titles (New world, new enemies, still depend upon one man...), PB walks out and shoots the letters until they spell "0 ... 0 ... 7" then the numerals glide together as we walks out of the silhouette shadow, into the light, smiles, and "You were expecting someone else?" Bam, cut to the title card, and end.
I can't believe they didn't include it in this release. Is it on another disc, or one of the features?

I can only imagine everyones Reaction to that Trailer. You're sitting in the Cinema one Day waiting for a Film to start, and then suddenly the GE Teaser is shown -{
1.On Her Majesties Secret Service 2.The Living Daylights 3.license To Kill 4.The Spy Who Loved Me 5.Goldfinger

I knew it was coming but seeing that for the first time had me cheering. It had been 5+ years since a new Bond film had come out at that point.
The greatest teaser trailer ever made. I remember being 11 years old sitting in the cinema at seeing that for the first time. It was LOUD and amazing. I was bought the making of book for my birthday. I still have it and that got me in to film making.
Oh my gosh- just watched the Blu Ray of YOLT again, and I could actually SEE the different plates used in the animation of the exploding volcano with the lava!
I have also just upgraded to Blu-ray, and even upscaled DVDs now look so much better on the big TV screen. I have started to look around for a Blu-ray set, and it seems the only complete one is the Bond 50 one (obviously!). Is it likely that there will be another one released after Spectre? And has anyone come across the set being sold at a better price you can get on eBay ($160-180)?

I just got my favourites for 4-7 dollars each on eBay.
I ordered the Bond 50 set from Amazon UK - once they deducted the UK VAT it worked out about $130, including postage, so not bad at all. This is, apparently, the version without Skyfall, but with a slot for it - so will just need to look out for a bargain.
Sorry if this has been asked before, but can anyone tell me why the DVD of SKYFALL carries a 12 rating from Ireland, but the blu in the same edition carries a 15?
