OHMSS Michelin Guide Screenshot: Need Help!

Dear Colleagues,
In order to be 100% insane, I am now moving on to want to be screen accurate and try to find the correct book that Lazenby had on the seat of the DBS during the intro scenes in Portugal.
Does anyone have a good screenshot to share?
Any ideas?
I would say that it is probably a Michelin Guide, 1969, for either France or Portugal. I recall a windmill on the page?
Please advise.
Working still on the driving glasses.
Cheers,
GG

    My Dear Friends,
After 40 years of watching OHMSS, first at age 10 at the drive in theatre, then that awful bloody hash on TV, then finally owning the VHS, then DVD, and now BluRay........and with your kind help, especially Andy, I can safely say that I have struck gold and found the atlas.
Here it is, on my desk (Aston is apart at the shop, and I wont be working on her till next week), turned to the correct page.

Funny story, Long ago on a trip to England, I spoke with as many people as I could at Eon, Aston Martin, etc about the various items that I was looking for. That's how I found my DBS, (that is another story). So, I was told that Bond was originally going to go to France to look for Blofeld, whose lair was, in an early draft, the Maginot Line.
Perhaps that is why the atlas is for France. Also, could have just been something laying about on a PA's own vehicle.
I like the first story better...more romantic!

Here are the shots. I will, as soon as the glasses arrive, try to recreate the film shot in the Aston. probably have to pull the seat out of the car and light it the way they did in the studio.

Thanks again to all who helped me in this quest. It is wonderful to have a community of such caring and honest colleagues who share a common love, and it is comforting to know that there are folks worldwide as sick as I am!

    Cheers,
    Tom

    Thank you Dear Colleagues!

GM> Yes, as it turns out, the camera angle used in the Ebay add was an odd one, so it made the book look to be too narrow. When the book arrived, I knew it was the right size from the box. Thanks again for your help.

Danjaq> Right about most at Eon not knowing, however, I spoke w so many people there and found out that one of the DBS cars used broke down horribly, and that was corroborated by the Aston folks who has a service record from the car, which showed, of all things, that the cylinder head had to be replaced, four tyres, and a a host of items that should not have gone wrong on a new car. Of course GKX 8G was also used by John Bolster as a test car, and I saw paint repairs on the records too, which is typical for a movie car. I have some of this info on my site.
Too bad there was no CarFax back then!

Thanks all, and I will be back with a recreation of the atlas and glasses on the seat. May be a while, as I have many mechanical issues to settle with the car. Looks as if it will be seat out to do a studio shot, as it appears they did.
I also am curious about Laxenby's bow tie. May be a difference from beach shot to studio shot.

    Sir Miles,
I agree with some of what you say about Eon.
However, I have found that in my humble experience, the way you carry yourself and present to others opens doors that normally are closed.
That is especially true with our trip to the College of Arms, of which there are pics on my site.
I have been to many places where a little finesse goes a long way.
When working on any research, I do agree to take many opinions with grains of salt, and ask around. Some may corroborate bits of info, while others refute them.
I usually go with my intuition, and meditate on the subject to get a clear path to the truth.
Had many instances on the DBS project that kept me awake at night. Still does, just refer to the carburettor saga. Still installing the damn things, and waiting for the exhaust manifolds to come back from the jet coaters.

You know, I was treated quite well at Eon, Pinewood, Stoke Poges, and Newport Pagnell. It all boils down to presentation, and a bit of old Irish bluffing!
    Thanks for the advice.

The simplicity of it all is I can't stand liars and bullshitters, and you Tom are both, your name came to me back when you ripped off a fan selling a manufactured part for an SD GG, strike 1, strike 2 was when you tried to sell what you said was a trilby and didn't like it when you were proved wrong by knowledgeable members here, you said it was a trilby because someone at lock had sold it to you as a trilby :D and strike 3, Your EON BULLSHlT, I know you didn't get any information from anyone their 8-)

I don't really care if you have been to the collage of arms or aston martin, big deal huh, but I know you have not the contact at 138 :D so go blow up someone else's pants {[]

You can think of me what you will, all of my friends know better, and be sure if I smell more BS from yourself or anyone else I will say so.

being the resident AJB diplomat with friendly feelings towards the OP, please let me say the following:

Tom, you know that I admire and share your passion re. OHMSS and all the stuff connected.
Knowing Danjaq_off for quite a long time, I can tell you that he's one of the kindest and friendliest persons that I've had the priviledge to meet.

Besides this, he has a very deep knowledge on all kind of things Bond and we all should take his info as gospel - it really is.

He used to work for EON, still knows almost everyone there and his info is valuable and - I myself have been proven wrong several times - fact.

His only weakness is that he dislikes all kind of thing wrong or not accurate and reacts in a pretty harsh way. That harshness is how he is - a lovable teddybear with a hard shell. But stubborn :D

Though I don't dispute that you have been in touch 1st, 2nd or 3rd grade with Eon - be careful with infos which you have heard from someone, who's sister (I think you get my point) knows a guy....

I understand that some people find him rude - he's not. He's plain honest and real.

So, les bee (Lazenby??) friends, we have so many beautiful things in common.

    And cheers to my mate danjaq_off -{

You guys are making me blush :D

Tom, looks at it this way, you have a vintage Aston, one that is like the one out of quite a few peoples favourite Bond film, is that not glory enough ?

As for being a sad little man behind a keyboard, can you walk in to the Heart of EON without being stopped ? do you personally know the producers and are on first name terms ? why would I be jealous, hardly :D

II remember once writing a post about joining AJB etc your ego takes a couple
Of hits, ( I'm sure it happens to us all ) :))
Where ever we live we are " The Bond guy " everything we say is taken as true, and
Our opinions are never questioned. So you join AJB and suddenly you discover people
Are questioning your opinions ( bit of a shock ) :))
You also discover members who know so much more than you, on all sorts of Bond
Facts ( many on stuff you'd never even thought of ) :D
If you can get over this kicking to your ego ( mine too ;) ) and get in the groove of
Sharing facts, learning new facts, having your leg pulled over something you've
Either picked up wrong or was a wrong fact in the first place.
I'm not a collector, I have neither the money or to be honest I don't have much of an
Interest in it, but I do love looking at what collections others have and the many wonderful
Items people put up for display.
My basic point is none of us know everything ( I know Sir Miles, thinks he does :p ) so it
Might be advisable to take on board others opinions, you don't have to agree with them, but
From reading threads on AJB over the years there are some guys here who are experts in
Their chosen fields, either watches, guns, props etc If I had a question on anything related
To these, I would take their advice ! Which is freely given, in many ways you have access
To a treasure trove of Bond information.
I have found everyone I've had dealings with on AJB to be extremely friendly and welcoming.
Even going further than needed to help. {[]

I liken AJb to a family of which the members do not get to meet often, except online. But as in any family there are different personas. You can either celebrate the variety of personas or bristle at them. Pete has more heart and consideration than any post, picture, or response would denote. Though you may see him as derisive in true he is someone that despises conflict amongst the family. That being said, and he doesn't need me to state what he has already said, he does dislike misinformation...and looking over the posts I do believe he was VERY diplomatic in not attacking you but rather gently using the Socratic method (questioning) to point out some potential disconnects.

All I can add to this party is my own experiences.

Firstly I've met pete's boss, and uncle den, and another chap who... no longer works there amongst a few others a can't remember the names of. I met these people when pete amazingly got me on the set of skyfall. I can tell anyone who's prepared to listen that not one of the people I met gave as much a **** about James Bond as we all do here. For them its a business, for us its a hobby and interest. The first thing pete's boss said to me was 'oh for fucks sake, you're not one of these sad bond fan wankers like him (pete) are you?'.

Secondly, when I first joined ajb, ke02eww introduced me to you guys as he'd seen the very first model i made associated with ajb, the 1:43 dbs from QoS. After the success of that I made a one off model of the rolled aston from CR. Pete then extremely kindly offered to get it under the nose of the top brass at 138 to get it signed so I could sell it in a charity auction listing on ebay. The model was carefully made, a case put over it and hand delivered by pete to 138. I got the model back, broken, in a jiffy bag in the post, unsigned. C'est la vie, I tried.

Trust me, and pete when he tells ya, they just don't give a **** like we do.

I also know pete well enough to know that he calls a spade a spade. If someone bullshits and he knows it to be bullshit then he calls it what it is, bullshit. I trust the guy to my bones because he's never told me anything that wasn't true. Except for the size of his ****, jo set me straight on that.
