    I liken AJb to a family of which the members do not get to meet often, except online. But as in any family there are different personas. You can either celebrate the variety of personas or bristle at them. Pete has more heart and consideration than any post, picture, or response would denote. Though you may see him as derisive in true he is someone that despises conflict amongst the family. That being said, and he doesn't need me to state what he has already said, he does dislike misinformation...and looking over the posts I do believe he was VERY diplomatic in not attacking you but rather gently using the Socratic method (questioning) to point out some potential disconnects.

    If anyone could change there opinion of each other as much as us Dave {[]

    All I can add to this party is my own experiences.

    Firstly I've met pete's boss, and uncle den, and another chap who... no longer works there amongst a few others a can't remember the names of. I met these people when pete amazingly got me on the set of skyfall. I can tell anyone who's prepared to listen that not one of the people I met gave as much a **** about James Bond as we all do here. For them its a business, for us its a hobby and interest. The first thing pete's boss said to me was 'oh for fucks sake, you're not one of these sad bond fan wankers like him (pete) are you?'.

    Secondly, when I first joined ajb, ke02eww introduced me to you guys as he'd seen the very first model i made associated with ajb, the 1:43 dbs from QoS. After the success of that I made a one off model of the rolled aston from CR. Pete then extremely kindly offered to get it under the nose of the top brass at 138 to get it signed so I could sell it in a charity auction listing on ebay. The model was carefully made, a case put over it and hand delivered by pete to 138. I got the model back, broken, in a jiffy bag in the post, unsigned. C'est la vie, I tried.

    Trust me, and pete when he tells ya, they just don't give a **** like we do.

    I also know pete well enough to know that he calls a spade a spade. If someone bullshits and he knows it to be bullshit then he calls it what it is, bullshit. I trust the guy to my bones because he's never told me anything that wasn't true. Except for the size of his ****, jo set me straight on that.

    Bless Boss, he is one hell of a guy :D

    I do not know Gebruder and have no reason to doubt what he has said, but I do know Pete - thankfully only a little bit! - and I can only affirm every positive thing said about him above. He is indeed a true gent. A gruff exterior hides an incredibly kind and generous interior and not only are his contacts and experience unimpeachable, but he also knows his stuff and would do anything for anyone. He is also an absolute stickler for truth and accuracy.

    Now, as I said, I don't know GG and I'm absolutely not going to cast aspersions his way. He may well have gained access to EON and spoken to people there, but I think what Pete started out staying before it all spiralled out of control is that the people he may well have come across at EON aren't necessarily the people who have much of a clue what's what. Maybe they were humouring GG, maybe they were genuinely trying to be helpful, but if Pete says that the folks at EON shouldn't be relied upon for accurate information, I believe him.

    To draw an analogy, I knew someone who had spent a considerable sum of money on the autograph of an historic person. I didn't think it was real and told him before he bought it, but he really wanted it to be real. I recommended he get a second opinion from a dealer/auctioneer. Instead, he contacted a descendent of the subject and asked them. They said it was real. My acquaintance was thrilled. Sadly though, although the person he contacted was directly related to the subject, they weren't experts or even particularly knowledgeable on the handwriting and signature in question. Years later when my acquaintance went to sell the item, no one would touch it. It didn't matter that some great-great-great-great relative said it was real, all the experts said it wasn't and he was stuck with it. A parallel could be drawn with EON. Yes, they are EON. Yes, they make/made the films but unless they're the actual propmaster etc involved in that particular production and they absolutely remember a specific item, their opinion holds less sway than the real experts out there; the collectors, enthusiasts and some dealers etc.

    Well said on all points & spot on regarding the 138 Clan. There were 3 truly knowledgeable individuals down there once. Two of which I had the honor to meet at Pinewood & who were generous enough to share their memories & treasures. Both have now passed away and the third, well she has retired but kept some amazing records almost like a journal & had a pretty sharp memory to boot....had a cello named after her too :D -{

    Pete, I do wish to apologize, and hope that we can share our passions, rather than argue about "who slaughtered who," to paraphrase a Holy Grail line.
    I don't appreciate being called things, and I am sure you don't either. On my part, I did regress to that, and I am sorry.
    As everyone wrote, at the end of the day, this is a passion, hobby, and calling.
    Yup, I was wrong on the hat, and, though the kind help of many brethren on the site, and elsewhere, I have now found the correct hat, and am having a Trilby made to OHMSS spec by Baron Hats in Hollywood.
    So, please except my apologies, and I offer an olive branch as a fellow devotee of Bond.
    Will be back w my recreation of the OHMSS seat shot.
    Looking at some glasses that will arrive tomorrow...
    ...and I must give you all the name of my oculist....

    Tom, to be honest my passion is no longer Bond, it is more to do with my friends on here, over the years I have met my life long best friends here. so in turn I won't be lied to and I don't want my friends lied to either.

    As for name calling, it is like water off of a ducks back and I can assure you I have been called a lot worse, but if you insist :D

    Just know Tom, like a lot of people have told you, I won't stand for any type of misleading, not just from you, but anyone, in my experience it is an untrustworthy trait -{

    Sorry for being a bit slow on the uptake, but I've only just noticed that Bondtots has changed his name to Higgins, is this to confuse the ASP or because we kept taking the piss out of Bondtots?

    Bye the bye, we had a dog called Higgins :x

    Rumour has it that someone told Bondtots that Jack Higgins wrote the James Bond books and Ian Fleming wrote the Jason Bourne books.
