Me too, ( nothing against the other actors ) But IMHO Dalton
Did his research and " Got Bond" -{ , LTK being the Best screen
Interpretation of 007.
I love how Cold he portrayed Bond dealing with his enemies. {[]
Yet, sensitive with his leading ladies, even vulnerable when needed.
Daniel Craig is getting very close, as his character grows and evolves
Perhaps into the Best screen 007 ? {[]
"I've been informed that there ARE a couple of QAnon supporters who are fairly regular posters in AJB."
To me they are top notch Bond films of the eighties, just a smidgeon below the sixties films
Definitely. The only aspect that puts them below sixties films is an ageing Roger Moore vs the best Connery years. I always think what if Dalton took over in 1981 instead of 1987? Then I imagine the films in my mind's eye and go...Wow.
When I left the cinema, I felt that I'll never see something so good again!
The honeymoon feeling built up with Octopussy and I was still fanatic and could not really accept the AVTAK critics saying that 007 became a bit lame and aged (though they where right).
At the time, I even appreciated Dalton's movies - my distance to his interpretation started later after I've joined AJB.
Some of you remember that I even had LTK as my favorite movie in my personal hitlist but that changed slightly.
Danjaq-off assumed that I was joking about that - I was not
So for me the 80s started with a blast and a perfect Bond movie and the hype continued thru the decade.
President of the 'Misty Eyes Club'.
Dalton - the weak and weepy Bond!

"Licence To Kill". Okay.... it's not a 'Bond movie' per se - the fact that they were trying to make a Lethal Weapon/Die Hard-styled movie is extremely obvious - but it's interesting to see such a ruthlessly gritty film, especially so long before Daniel Craig.
Considering over the course of four years we went from Roger Moore hanging off a firetruck to Benicio Del Toro in a shredder, some ugly fellow's head going splat and Felix being eaten, I can *kinda* see why audiences were put off.
But there's a lot going for it:
* Wayne Freakin' Newton as a sleazeball televangelist. That's just genius casting.
* Not having to see Caroline Bliss for more than ten seconds.
* Way-too-soon love scene aside, I always liked Pam.
* Robert Davi makes an excellent villain.
* Come on, you know Krest's inflating head is awesome. Seeing the 'money shot' finally made the Ultimate Edition worth buying for me. :-P
* The ending with "If You Asked Me To" is one of my favorite Bond music moments ever.
* The amazing tanker chase - made cooler by that 'ghost hand' photo they took on set.
I mean, it has its flaws - that weasely kid who works for Sanchez is one of the worst actors of the Bond series, and I'll be honest, the ninja scene is much too random for its own good. And Talisa Soto's acting strays a bit close to 'Sofia Coppola' levels.
LTK, the closest I think the films have gotten to the violence of the novels and Dalton is just great.
Good to see more Dalton Supporters -{
I have to support him, we have the same birthday! but besides that I think hes Craig before Craig, just a no-bullsh*it-get-the-job-done agent, especially in LTK.
I have a very big soft spot for LTK. It was my first Bond movie in a theatre. Remember that back then you didn't have a Bluray and Home Cinema, just a horribly pan scanned VHS version of the movies, that you watched in a small,square TV set.
I mean, LTK impressed me in the big screen. And as it turned out, it's the last movie made by the original team, Broccoli, Maibaum, John Glen, so I'm even fonder of it.
And of course, it has Timothy Dalton as James Bond. Up there with Connery 1962-1965 and Craig.
Most underrated Bond movie ever: Licence To Kill.
Yes, some funny stuff with the bar fight & the X-ray Polaroid laser, but mainly it's Bond at his badass best, throwing down and very nearly sacrificing his LIFE to avenge the maiming of his friend & the killing of his friend's Wife, (and in effect Tracy's death as well which he could never fully recover from). This was Bond off the hook & daring the end if it came.
Only QOS comes close for me,

Dalton read the Books before Filming stared for TLD, thats how committed he was.
He'd be back reading them. -{
This is how I've always felt too. -{

Yes, Dalton's Bond would give you a black Eye if you crossed him )
Indeed he would, that's why we loved him! )
As Tom Mankiewicz noted Timothy Dalton had a certain degree of believable violence/danger to his face. -{
....and the tears .... 8-)

Seconded. For me he is easily the best of the Bonds. -{
