    Can I say Kevin McClory?

The original idea was to have Blofeld in TSWLM but because of McClory they could only use Blofeld and Sceptre between 12 years, 65-77.

While McClory was absolutely a thorn in the side of EON, I wouldn't call him a villain. He didn't seem like an inherently bad person. Thunderball was his key to the Bond series and financial success in the movie industry. With the original lawsuit, which seemed reasonable, it pretty much blacklisted him from Hollywood as a producer. So Thunderball was not only his only chance at the Bond Series, but with movies in general. I can't fault him too much, though definitely a nuisance in the later years.

I'd highly recommend "The Battle for Bond" for the full background on the Fleming/EON/McClory story.

This will probably ruffle a few feathers but ..... I think it was terrible
That Harry Saltzman wouldn't sell his shares to Cubby, but instead sold
Them to the studio. Unless of course I've got the story wrong.
