Welshboy, I have a Magnoli copy of the Armani, had it a few year now. The lambskin is very soft, but just got it from the wardrobe to compare to your original. What struck me, is the lower left pocket ( as you are wearing it) on Armani is stitched much nearer to the central zip position, compared to the lower right pocket, which is set further away. Not noticed this before.

That's the same detail on my one too I initially thought it was a mistake on mine but it is the same on the one Welshboy had too.

Interesting, haven't seen that picked up on the replicas. Certainly not my Magnoli one.

Now that it's been pointed out, hate to say it but I prefer the symmetry of the Indy replica :o :#

Here are more pics of the real thing, this is pics of the jacket worn by the fellow AJBer who bought it off me.

Looks fantastic on him and give you an idea of how short it is also

Those lower pockets look symmetrical, on the other pic the left one looks nearer the zip? Odd, maybe the angle? Yes, if you are ordering a replica, you have to hold your nerve on the length, they are meant to be short. I went short, but bottle went slightly, didn't go that short!

I think the reason the first pic looks asymmetrical is due to the angle and a fold in the leather by the lower pocket.

They're based in Greece actually, but use Italian leathers. Website is:

The Indy jacket highlighted above is their 'Striated lamb' leather. Some (myself included) consider them the best "Raiders of the Lost Ark" jacket manufacturer there is. I've used many replica manufacturers in my time and I go back to BK every time.

That Armani jacket is breathtaking! I love my SHORT jackets, and this one is right up there. Pun intended.

    Hi
Just a little update, I have managed to get the prototype taken on by a company who make jackets for a fair number of high end designer manufacturers, so I am hopeful that it will turn out well. They have probably had over 100 photos of the originals showing all the correct little details.
Please again if this turns out well would you be interested, I am hoping the price of the final item will be UNDER £300 for a Buttery Soft Lambskin Dark Brown Leather, the more that I order the cheaper they will be.
The Jacket is Currently being made as we speak.
If I am not happy with the details, I will go back to the first company that I have currently put on hold.

Like everyone else, I look forward to the prototype.

£300 is $483. Indy sells for $383 shipped.

Indy scores on the "buttery soft" it IMO but the intricate fine details are where he falls short (though mine has aged and distressed naturally very well over 7 years). I hope this attempt succeeds in recreating them accurately.
  • jared_nomakjared_nomak Posts: 1,943MI6 Agent
As I say I hope I will be able to get the price down depending on the amount of jackets ordered.

So fingers crossed if we can just get the details right, it could make all the difference as all the ones I have seen so far miss out some of the small details which in turn get it totally wrong.

    I bought this one http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Casino-Royale-Dark-Brown-Genuine-Cow-Hide-Skin-Leather-Jacket-/131324196954?pt=UK_Men_s_Coats_Jackets&hash=item1e9388385a

Very pleased with it, great quality cow hide leather. I will be reviewing in a video shortly as well as a video review of the Primark peacoat in the style of the Billy Reid. Watch this space!. :D

Mate I'm sure you'll nail it.... Especially as you have an example of the real thing to use as a guide. I love the fit of my magnoli but the quality is just not there. I'm very excited by this project!
