My 50 cents...
1. DAF- Really fun ending. Its really hilarious just seeing Bond toy with Wint and Kidd and destroy their overly elaborate plan without even really trying.
2. DN- Big action ending, lots of explosions.
3. QOS- No nonsense, straight to the point. Deviates a bit from the formula.
4. LTK- Satisfying ending not only to the Sanchez storyline but also kind of to the original Bond era before the more modern films of Brosnan and Craig
5. FYEO- Warm kind of ending, bit of gentle humour.
Many seem to be choosing this one, and while it's certainly extremely well done, it's just too painful for me to choose as a 'favourite'.
I'd sooner choose the winking fish... :007)
I'm with you all the way on this one.
Its a superb, brilliantly done ending with such raw emotion. But the whole film was spent developing the Bond/Tracy relationship and then they kill her off so abruptly and then cut straight to the titles. Its brilliant, but I cant say I enjoy it in the traditional sense of the word. Give a winking fish and I'm fine but give me that and I'm crying like a baby.
My favorite would be CR. It truly marked Daniel Craig's arrival as James Bond.
OHMSS would be a close second.
I also liked the finale of QoS quite a bit, and agree about the last line.
Thunderbird Too.
CR-06 is sad re Vesper, but Bond literary getting the drop on white is a fantastic pick up and promises fun times ahead. Cutting to black with the full Bond theme, perfectly done.
OHMSS - Tragic, shocking and full of regret. A brave move to give the baddies a win and Mr Lazenby plays it just right.
QoS. In spite of my frustrations with QoS, the final scene is beautifully done. Bond's 'you were right' comment to M-Manf gives a nice closure to CR-06. The shot of the love knot in the snow after M spots it, poetic cinamatography. Nice double meaning too.
BLeiter and Pussy, the closing to LALD meant I didn't sleep for a week when I was a kid! That voodoo stuff still gives me the creeps now!
This is Thunderbird 2, how can I be of assistance?
I think diamonds are forever is just brilliant. That was the thing I loved about the Guy Hamilton Bond movies. They suddenly reminded you after the main villains death that there was a nasty henchman that still needed to be dealt with (apart obviously from Goldfinger) and it was tense and exciting. I hope they bring that type of ending back in a future Bond movie.
All of Connery's Films (Apart from GF) end with Bond and his Female Companion on a Boat or inflatable Raft -{
I'm not counting NSNA here
So do TMWTGG, TSWLM, FYEO, OP, TND ) (If if you stretch the theme a bit more to contain water in general then AVTAK (shower) and LTK (swimming pool) also count.) -{

TND is the only non Guy Hamilton Bond film that has this type of ending.
Have you ever heard of the Emancipation Proclamation?"
After all the controversy of DC getting the role and the fact it was a reboot etc it seemed EON were hellbent to avoid all the past Bond cliches which had become cheesy over the years. They did it great in my opinion e.g. Shaken or Stirred? "Do I look like I give a damn" which is one of the highlights of CR, clever writing that tells us this Bond is different, not Moore or Connery!
Throughout the film you get the feeling THE classic line has been deliberately avoided by EON since this is a new era, a new Bond!! The film comes to its climax and the line gets delivered out of the blue in the most perfect scenario and timing - he has finally become THE Bond we know, a perfect end to a great refreshing 007 movie.
"The Names Bond, James Bond"
That was perfect for me - Bond was back properly, no more silly stuff!!! I still remember grinning in the cinema thinking wow, superb film, superb Bond and for the first time in ages I was looking forward to the next entry in the series.
Now unlike many I am a fan of QOS but I think they took a step backwards from the magnificent CR ending. After the perfect finale I think the next film should have had Bond now established as a 007 but they kind of undid the end of CR with the Vesper story dug up again and him still being "a blunt instrument". Of course Skyfall he plays the down and out, past it agent role, so we have so far been sort of cheated out of a 007 at his peak etc like any normal 007 film.
2) OHMSS - Dont think much needs to be said about this. I think this is probably the only genuine tragic ending of a Bond film and Lazenby pulls it off perfectly emotionally. I didn't feel too sad when Vesper died in CR after crossing Bond (despite the explanation later on), this is indeed a sad ending and unique in the series.
3) Any one of the Connery endings - I hope DC finally gets an ending where he runs off with the girl without a care in the world.
With regards to Skyfall and the return of the old office and "M" etc this really was superb, however a few things killed it for me:
A) The introduction of Moneypenny behind her desk. It didn't feel quite right at all with her announcing her real name at the end of the film (especially after the missions they had been on together). I think this could have been better somehow. The lines felt totallly forced and a tad unnecessary. As a viewer I felt it a bit unbelievable and slightly cheated
Also I didn't like the way DC delivered his final line "With pleasure M", With pleasure". Calling him M seemed also forced, we all knew Mallory had become the new "M" and I would have preferred if he had just called him "sir" and in the next film started calling him "M". It seemed "shoe-horned" in just so the average (non 007 fanatic) audience / viewer who didn't have a clue would now know he had become the new "M".
Special mention for LALD - the final scene! Is this unique where the bad guy gets the end shot?????

I'm an older gent, so please forgive me if I can't remember the title of the movie right away, but I like the ending of the bond girl and James Bond in the iceberg submarine. In another movie, James Bond (Pierce Brosnan) is on top of a Bond Girl while Lady M and others were tracking him and in a close- up are watching the heat sensor of Bond and the girl in bed. You see the legs spreading.
DN - I really like the kissing in the boat and letting the rope go. Why wouldn't you want to be alone with her?
GF - While the plane crash and GF being sucked out...sucks...the final scene with Pussy and Bond is great
TWSLM - Wine nod, keeping the British end up
MR - James, won't you take me around the world one more time? She looks so good in that shot.
TLD - How sad she is that Bond isn't there, but he really is
LTK - Fade in of Patti Labelle's song, the pool, the kiss...cool -{
GE - The fade in of "The Experience of Love" and the chemistry between the two. She's pretty happy to see him.
TWINE - The Christmas joke, how good Denise Richards looks, the music, the Y2K joke, great stuff.
DAD - Yep, I actually like the final scene with Halle Berry.
My favorite James Bond denouements so far, in no particular order:
OHMSS - Lazenby, for all of his inexperience, really nails James' silent anguish
DN - It's funny the lengths to which James will go to be alone with a girl
QoS - Daniel Craig plays off of Judi Dench so well, especially with the "I never left" response he gives her when she says she needs him back
Skyfall - For all of the film's problems overall, the scene between Moneypenny and James on the roof where she gives him M's bulldog and tells him her name is great
I enjoy the cheeky Roger Moore endings a lot. My favourite of these is Moonraker (attempting re-entry) although The Spy Who Loved Me (keeping the British end up) is hard to ignore. The train fight and closing shot at the end of LALD is also memorable.
Dramatically I really like On Her Majesty's Secret Service. The downbeat ending is so unique for a Bond film and I think it is remarkably well acted by Lazenby considering his inexperience.
Casino Royale is also one of the best. I love that they included Fleming's last line of CR (the bitch is dead) and of course the final scene with "Bond. James Bond" and the James Bond Bond Theme is a terrific way to end the film.
Many seem to be choosing this one, and while it's certainly extremely well done, it's just too painful for me to choose as a 'favourite'.
I'd sooner choose the winking fish... :007)
The ending of OHMSS probably had the biggest impact on me of any Bond film. As painful as it is, I had to put it on the list because it's such a standout.
The ending of OHMSS is probably the standout moment for me of any Bond film ( the torture scene in CR or the Train fight in FRWL alternate for second place) Bond endings often seem weak and anti climatic to me, but OHMSS is special, and Georgey Boy rocked it.
Of that of which we cannot speak we must pass over in silence- Ludwig Wittgenstein.
While not my favourite, strangely enough I quite liked Skyfall's final scene with M and Bond in the room. I think it brought back memories of the traditional films, with that door and M's office, which is remarkably similar to the 60's films (yes I compared them).
TLD: Straight class. Beautiful ending to a great film and the Pretenders outro theme caps it off brilliantly -{
MR: Great Barry score with some tense moments. I think he's attempting re-entry! I am one of the few that absolutely love Jaws & Dolly. Here's to us {[]
DAF: Delightfully wacky like the rest of the movie. Eeeeeeee.
SF: Beautifully shot rooftop scene followed by the old school Moneypenny and M offices!
OHMSS: Unique, emotional, beautiful. Love the wedding sequence with the Mi6 regulars.
Honorable Mentions
LTK - Similarly classy ending to TLD, but the Leiter cheeriness just throws it off a bit for me.
and
TB - Disco Volante is decent, but this gets good marks for the crazy airplane pickup. Pure Bond!
Very interesting thread. What's funny is alot of my favorite endings are movies outside my top 10.
TSWLM
TND
TLD
And OP from the train scene to the end is one of my favorites in all of Bond. But the first 3 quarters of the movie do nothing for me.
And all those are outside my top 10!
And obviously GF. If you don't like the last 5 minutes you can't he much of a Bond fan. Haha!
From Russia With Love - Classic, Tania killing Klebb and Bond and her paddling away in the Venice canals. On Her Majesty's Secret Service - Emotional, and a clear standout of the entire series. For Your Eyes Only - It's my favourite Bond movie, and although the prime minister ending was a bit strange I loved Max's words and the happiness of the secret service with the success of 007's mission. The part where the end credits roll showing underwater and the Sheena Easton theme is why this is on the list. It is amazing! The Living Daylights - May be my favourite of the entire series. Love the personality Dalton brings here, and 'The Pretenders' theme playing. Licence To Kill - This is a funny choice for me. I found the end to be very disappointing without 'M' and M16 but again, Dalton's portrayal and personality is terrific. He jumps in the pool and drags Bouvier in with him. I liked the end song as well.
Licence To Kill - This is a funny choice for me. I found the end to be very disappointing without 'M' and M16 but again, Dalton's portrayal and personality is terrific. He jumps in the pool and drags Bouvier in with him. I liked the end song as well.
Agreed.
TWINE - Denise Richard's blue dress drives me nuts, love it. Plus their love scene is sexy, funny and a great end to the full-on showdown with the villains. There's also the 2nd reference to the Millenium, first one being the dome in London and the joke at end. Nice wrap up of the century/millennium in a way...
GE - Has quite a bit to do with the Experience of Love for me (I know how many people hate it) - but I love the way Alec is dropped by Bond, Bond jumps on the chopper, and the marines turn up the way they do. The chemistry between Bond/Natalya is very nice too.
AVTAK - it's pretty shady in some respects, but it puts a smile on my face. Following the brilliant defeat of Zorin. "That's not the soap" is one of the funniest lines in Bond.
AVTAK - it's pretty shady in some respects, but it puts a smile on my face. Following the brilliant defeat of Zorin. "That's not the soap" is one of the funniest lines in Bond.
Definitely an honourable mention for me. I guess the score playing over the final scene really makes me sad to see Roger Moore go, but also happy because at least he seemed very happy when AVTAK ended. There are those senses in only a few of the Bond films where you feel like "hey, this hard as villain is finally defeated after all this" and you feel a strong sense of relief and happiness. For that, I nominate:
FRWL
AVTAK &
LTK
Something about those three just made my viewing better, in Russia you have all these villains defeated and Bond and Romaniva sail away in Venice, followed by the amazing theme and credits.
In View, quite possibly the most dangerous and menacing villain is defeated in one of the world's best locations - The Golden Gate Bridge. Then you feel Moore's last moments coming, especially when the secret service along with General Gogol are discussing Bond's success on the mission. You can even find Lois Maxwell in tears, but of course 'Q' comes along and erases all suspicions.
In Licence, well, like View, another dangerous villain defeated with Bond 'finally' avenging the death of Della Leiter, after so many close calls, and being on his own without the majority of M16. Of course there is the feeling of Timothy Dalton departing the role as well. Just great!
AVTAK - it's pretty shady in some respects, but it puts a smile on my face. Following the brilliant defeat of Zorin. "That's not the soap" is one of the funniest lines in Bond.

I'd also nominate the brilliant scene in Russia (apartment) with the Canadian agent/M from QoS. Different to all others, and so well acted.
Completely agree with your point about the AVTAK theme being played in that final scene and Roger's sign-off. Just great stuff.
