I've started watching "Star cops" on Britbox another 80 British Sci-Fi show. Some good
stories but laughable special effects. You could see they were trying to go for an
" Outland" vibe but sadly with the budget of a school play.
I’d never heard of this before, I could only stand it for 10 minutes before turning it off!

I’m onto episode 7, it’s pretty good but getting a bit “samey”, I will stick with it though for now.

I’ve just finished Truth Seekers, on Amazon. Starring Nick Frost, Simon Pegg and Malcolm McDowell, this is 8 episodes of brilliant comedy horror, where the comedy doesn’t detract from the story. It’s about a group of amateur paranormal investigators, it’s clever, witty and has plenty of tense scenes. Recommended.

Jasper told the gag in 1983 - it was first used in the radio show Radio Active in 1981...told by Phil Pope and the gag was written by Geoffrey Perkins -{
It's amazing what Sir Miles knows, I remember learning that Michael Caine
never actually said " Not a lot of people know that " ....... Although I
still use the line doing a Michael Caine voice.

Fans of Octopussy should watch the first two episodes of Yes Prime Minister, the 1980s comedy, which outlines the parlous situation of the UK's nuclear defences and what it would take for Prime Minister Hacker to push the button.
It was on BBC4 last night and is probably on iPlayer.

I’ve seen the first 3 episodes of ITV’s, Marple, on BritBox. The period setting is vey good, with lots of well known supporting stars. The scripts seem to be close to the novels. Margaret Rutherford is still my favourite Miss Marple, though, even if, Geraldine McEwan is far closer to the book Marple. The music is also reminiscent of the brilliant Ron Goodwin score from the 1960’s series of films.

I too grew up with Margaret Rutherford as Miss Marple, I remember that Agatha Christie
even dedicated " The Mirror Cracked .... " to her but I feel Geraldine McEwan also brought
"a twinkle in her eye " to the character. I've read all the Miss Marple books and yes
Rutherford is far from Christie's description. Although I do like how emancipated she was
for the time. If a villain took out a sword she'd point out that she'd been the Fencing
champion at her school.
Just out of interest as some may not know it but, in her contract to play Miss Marple
Margaret Rutherford wanted and got, her Husband ( Mr Stringer ) as her sidekick/helper
and that she could wear her own clothes.

BritBox has a load of Christmas programmes added this week. This streaming site is wonderful for ex-pats like me who miss out on British TV. I’m watching a variety of series that passed me by in the 70’s - 90’s period when I watched very little television. Without doubt the best value streaming site available in my opinion.

In one scene he wraps Mr Solo in a fishing net and then bangs it against a wall. I couldn't help
but think the makers of Friday the 13th films could have been influenced by this as in Friday pt 7
Jason kills a camper by slamming a person in a sleeping bag against a tree.
