I have just seen the episode of the Norwegian TV series "The heavy water war" were the sabotage itself takes place. I can recomend this sderies very strongly. Perhaps the most celebrated and important sabotage during WWII has never been visualized better. This story has all the ingredients: A tyrany trying to develop a horrible weapon, a guarded factory in the mountains, commandoes in winter camouflage skiing toward it etc. This is epic! Michael Bay and Danny Boyle are also planning to film this story and Tarantiono knows it well. Bay and Boyle migh make this story bigger, but I doubt they will makem it better and certainly not as detailed as this TV series.
This series has so far been sold to at least 15 countries, including the US, the Netherlands, France and Canada.

This looks great N24. I hadn't heard of this series so thanks for posting. As a huge fan of The Heroes of Telemark I'll try and get a watch of this (not sure how in the UK?) The fact it has Anna Friel in it is a huge bonus..! :x
It's a great TV-series, I think. But unlike you the real saboteurs disliked "The heroes of Telemark" because it had only a passing resemblance to the real events. The 1948 movie "Operation Swallow:The Battle for the Heavy Water" is much closer to reality. It's subtitled (but you can read, and I don't see how literate people can have a problem with subtitles) and most of the saboteurs played themselves. One of the saboteurs also helped on the script. "The actors showed the saboteurs how to act and the saboteurs showed the actors how to do a sabotage!
Watch it here if you want:

I re-watched the 1948 movie after I posted the link. It still holds up pretty well. Be patient for the first 15 minutes, since that's really a documentary to set up the story. There are a few omitions in the film, naturally. The story has also been changed a few times for dramatic effect. The epic ski chase where a German commando (SS-jagdkommando, also a Bavarian skiing champion) hunting Einar Skinnarland in the mountains happened after the sabotage, not before as shown here. Also the alarm at the heavy water factory was set off much later than shown in the movie, after the SOE-agents were up in the mountains again. Still, the movie is well worth watching for people with an interest in WWII and special operations.
Yes, a task to get something from a supermarket and having to avoid
A few hungry Zombies on the way.
Watching a little of "Release the hounds" , I couldn't help think of
" The Running man" and one of its TV shows " climbing for dollars " )
"I've been informed that there ARE a couple of QAnon supporters who are fairly regular posters in AJB."

It could have been so much more fun... (Evil laugh) )
Actually, regarding Release the Hounds, running the gauntlet at the end could be an interesting way for a Bond Villain to despatch those that have crossed him. A bit like Corinne's demise, but I'm sure they could rework it and freshen it up.
I always liked the idea of the old film " The mask of the red death"
From a story by Edgar Allan Poe , were a guy stuck in a Gorilla suit
Gets burned alive ( scared the crap out of me as a kid) but what
Sickened me was how the party goers looked on in amusement
Still eating and drinking, pointing at how his leg kicked ! So yes
I think it would be cruel ( in a movie way) to see a Bond villain
Build up someone's hopes of escape, only to have him run to
Ground by a pack of hounds, as the villain looks on perhaps drinking
And joking with a guest. although it might be more suited for an 18 cert film. )

I've not seen that film, but you describe the sickening feeling perfectly. Sounds horrifying
I think as Moonraker was the first Bond film I saw as a child, even when I watch Corinne's demise now, it still resonates. It's one of the darkest scenes in the entire series for me. Being hunted down by a pair of vicious dogs seemed even worse than being dropped in the shark pool
You're right, the pack of dogs is probably too violent by today's standards, but I'm sure they could do it in a way that would pass the BBFC's 12A rating.
Yes, it's amazing what you can do in films these days, after watching
The Expendables in the cinema, I did check to see if it was a 15 , as I
Was sure it was an 18 !
I love the dog attack in MR -{ almost a mini Hammer Horror.

Agree with you on The Expendables.
Additionally, it is odd that the nip slips that appeared in previous Bond films only received a PG rating and yet today nothing can be shown.
We have HOBSONS CHOICE on today ,starring Sir John Mills, and Charles Laughton ,ive loved this film ,ever since we studied it in our school English class .Most of it was read to us by the teacher, who did all the voices (I think he went to RADA) ) ,but his enthusiasm stayed with me ever since.
I've been watching several series of " Whitechapel " -{ great detective show !
Sadly ITV cancelled it. Dealing with modern day copycat killings set in London.
The first series dealt with a killer copying " Jack the Ripper" . well worth a watch
With a great cast of Rupert Penry-Jones, Philip Davis and Steve Pemberton.

The big painting challenge, bbc1 Sundays.
I love watching painting ( landscapes etc, not livingroom walls ) it's
A skill I wish I had but I can't even draw. great show to relax of a
Sunday evening.

Watching Bear Grylls, and Mission Survive, with 8 Brit 'celebs' having to survive for 12 days in the Costa Rican Jungle... the line up includes, Emilia Fox, her cousin Laurence Fox, Dame Kelly Holmes, Jemelia, Max George, Mike Tindell, Tom Rosenthal and Vogue Williams.
Entertaining stuff... especially when they had to drink their own wee... not an issue for Mike or Emilia...but the converstations following - "oh the shame" - "Oh how embarrassing" - get a grip guys... this is survival!

I agree with you about the subtitles. The number of great films that pass people by because they can't be bothered to make the effort.

Watching their antics building three ambulances was very funny.
" I survived a Zombie apocalypse " , which I think looks fun.
Looks like it will be a bit like Release the Hounds which was really good in places. Being on bbc3 means no adverts either!
