An instrumental would be wonderful, but don't forget this is also about producing more and more revenue streams. A hit pop song makes money and also is publicity for the film.
I too hope they get Daniel Kleinman back for the titles, I love his work. {[]
Daniel Kleinman tells the Norwegian James Bond Magazine that he has been asked by the Bond producers to work on the title sequence for SPECTRE, he expects to start soon in the new year.
I enjoyed the themes of CR, QOS and and especially SF. Another Way to Die gets a lot of hate, but it wins on uniqueness for me. DAD's song is a guilty pleasure and TWINE is one of my favorite themes.
rumour has it (no pun) the bloke that sings "I know I'm not the only one" has the job? as for previous songs...you know my name is great! another way to die...the production is fantastic! the vocals fall short! skyfall, they were trying too hard! tomorrow never dies was the closes thing to a classic bond song since the originals! put your head phones on and take a listen again class

Sam Smith. Yeah. Its pretty much confirmed I think that he has the job.

Digital Spy article in which Take That's Howard Donald is quoted: "I would love to write a Bond theme." Gary Barlow added: "I think movies in general is a very exciting area for us." However, when told Sam Smith is the current favourite, Barlow replied: "He'd be brilliant. Get him in!".

I don't know if this is true, but The Mirror newspaper has a rumor that Adele has been flown to Los Angeles by MGM bosses to work on a new original score for SPECTRE.
A source at MGM said, "Everyone thinks Adele is here for her much anticipated new album, but she is actually working on a music idea for the James Bond film".
If I am not mistaken, it was The Mirror newspaper that revealed the casting of Andrew Scott. Which gives this rumour regarding Adele a bit more credibility than might have been the case previously.

If she has come back, good luck to her. {[] after the huge success of
Skyfall, that must be a lot of pressure on her to come up with something
Equally as good.
"I've been informed that there ARE a couple of QAnon supporters who are fairly regular posters in AJB."
While the score of "Skyfall" did incorporate some musical cues from Adele's theme song, it would be nice to have the score for "SPECTRE" to have the theme song worked into the score more to the level of the classic Barry scores (which I think was also done very successfully in CR). The possibility that Adele is in LA this early in the production of the film to work on the title song may indicate a closer collaboration with film composer Thomas Newman. While Adele's "Skyfall" theme may not have been the best Bond theme of all time, it was very good and really captured the classic "Bond Sound". More collaboration between Adele and Newman could result in a more epic/classic and memorable score for "SPECTRE" IMO.
Now, this either confirms the Mirrors story or contradicts it. She could be staying with Gaga whilst she's in LA or she could just be in LA to work with Gaga.
Maybe her and Gaga are doing the theme?! The above article hints at that possibility at the end.

Nothing against Adele. I quite liked Skyfall, and she deserved the Oscar. But please, not her. There are dozens of exciting artists who can pull it off.

Hear, Paloma Faith, Muse, or Sir Tom and Dame Shirley for a duet.
Mate!! That would be so awesome.
